Dumnorix,
I have not put "anyone as fantasy people." I am sure JTCS meets PG3D is perfectly satisfactory, but it is not what I am interested in. I like the scale and feel of CS. I would love a CS meets Squad Leader mod, but I'm not inclined to make it and I'm not sure anyone else besides me is interested.
I wish you all luck in your endeavours, and I know you've worked hard, but do not drag me into any insurgency-marketing attempts
Jason,
Still, what you describe is very exciting - a leap forward for CS.
All the best,
Ladmo

I hope we can stay focus on WWII for the momment. There is still a lot of upgrading to be done to all three editions before we go on to other time periods please. Its just my opinion!

Sorry Jason
I still didn't get the catch : if I want to create some unit, say the new PzVII tank [;)], I can do it (in the data file), but not use/play it ? And I have to request that *you* encrypt it to have an usable file ?? How are we supposed to manage mods this way, it's ... prehistoric ! [:@]
Why not just make an official, untouchable, 256-bit encrypted [:'(] data file for use in secure pbem, and let ppl do what they want with their data/mods, but pbem-forbidden (or knowing that it's not secure) ? Is that really hard (it's not like it was a new idea...) ?
And beware of your "secret encryptor", I'm inclined to think it'll be broken in no time and you'll be back to start line again.
You'll be happy to know the PzVII is included with 1.03.
Additionally, there will be a wishlist for new units that will be taken under consideration for future UPDATES.

Bringing in a German tank that was only on the drawing board and historically dropped in favor of developing the Maus, sound a bit like adding fantasy to CS? [&:] Most sources I checked do not have enough "factual" information on armor thickness and what main gun was to be used, to warrant enough data to present it, except in the hopes of what it might have been.
This opens up designers to create scenarios that will be more like Starship Troopers than CS. IMHO, of course! [;)]
Can I find fanciful Brit, Soviet, and American armor so that we may have a counter for these beasties? [8|]

Did I mention they can teleport? Sahweeeet!
Keep in mind, I am referring to the Panther II, not the monster I think you are talking about.

By all means, you can add them to the unit request list when it becomes available.
As the OOB's have been expanded to 1953, there are a number of new units that will be available in the org editor. Take a moment to look through them and see what's new, what's available.
For the 1.04 UPDATE, I intend on tackling the British, French and Japanese Order of Battles.

Let's see how you do with the German first - Remember all this OOB stuff really needs to take a backseat to the game mechanics -

"game mechanics" seem to work fine anyway. Jason, I know you probably get this a lot, but is this taking them an inordinately long time to release the update? Or is this fairly normal? I am holding up on the final touches of my scenario to include some things such as engineers in the oob, but it seems to be taking an incredible amount of time. If it is normal, I can wait, but if it is a s ignal there is a problem with the release, I will just go ahead with current version.
Thanks

We have never had to have the manual go through the reformat/edit phase that is it is going through now. While I did sign off on it earlier this week, after going back and forth a few times, I am under the impression the manual is in the final stage of being complete. Once I get it, the 1.03 UPDATE will be compiled, a quick test to ensure the installer is working and then released to the public.
I refuse to give a timeline, as it seems I tend to be wrong anyway.
I am hoping it is within the next week or two though.

Ah, thank you. I can wait as long as there is no problem, no big deal. I am having a lot of fun tinkering with stuff anyway.

Game mechanics are beyond my abilities.
Are you currently the only maintainer of the JTCS code?
Do you have access to all source code (I imagine you do)?
What computer language is JTCS written in?
If you yourself don't do deep coding, what are the prospects of expanding the maintenance/development team in future?
If one wanted to join the team, how would one go about it?

Happy to hear that so much effort is being put into the manual. The Campaign Series manuals are among of the best for clarity and easy of use and the upgrade when JTCS came out was appreciated. Glad to see that the effort is being put into keeping it current.
I've seen mentions of expanding the JTCS to cover Latin America, etc. While it may antagonize some folks, I think it would be reasonable for Matrix to make it a separate product for sale, rather than a freebie. Jason will be needing new snow tires sometime...

No, of course not. We have a member of the Campaign Series Legion that does the code work. Just not my department, hence why I tinker with the OOBs.

Yes.

I don't recall, as it's not my area. A version of C, I would imagine.

See above.

We'll post a thread when looking to expand the team.
