I got the last turn this AM (PDT) but now when I click on the Combine PBEM Files button, CoG-EE "...has encountered a problem and needs to close."  First turn worked fine.  Game runs great in single player mode.

Tried the usual Windows troubleshooting crap, defragging HD, all other programs shut down, cold re-boot, hot re-boot, virus scanner off and blah, blah, blah.  Running XP v5.1 SP3.  Have been at this a couple of hours now.  Help!  Feel free to send direction to my home email.  Thanks in advance, hope there's a solution or work around for this.  Sorry for this glitch.

Wait. Okay. Hold on. Don't go crazy. Let's think. :) Don't feel sorry for it. It isn't your fault whatever it is.

Does it really look like everyone has the same turn in? I mean, does it say:

AltHistA_Turn001_(number-nation)Done.rep
OR
AltHistA_Turn001_(number-nation)Done.sav

in EVERY case? Check the turn number closely AND make sure no one has sent in a _ALL file. They must all be (number-nation)Done files. Know what I mean? These are the most common mistakes!

Just curious...can everyone in here confirm that they are using the proper version of Crown of Glory:EE currently? i.e. Crown of Glory:EE with the 1.0.9 patch installed over it?

I just tried to combined the files too, and it told me "Incompatible Game Save File or Version".

We may all need to redo this last turn just this once and try again. And I will also chat with Eric about this.

The fact that Randomizer processed the turn once successfully leads me to believe it wasn't him.

Has anyone reinstalled COGEE recently for any reason???

I redownloaded my game about a week ago, but downloaded the update right afterwards.

1.09 here as well.

You did not alt-tab out of the game while it was merging the files? Apperantly that messes things up.

Nope.  Even if I had wanted to do so CoG crashes instantainiously as the "Combine PBEM Files" button is clicked.  Tried deleting all sent files for Turn 001 and re-saving them from the original emails but no joy.

Okay. So far we have the following version confirmations:

Vaalen, Randomizer, Marshal Villars, Montesaurus, Mus, Terje.

Waiting on IronWarrior and Andrew Kurtz.

Yep 1.0.9 installed. I think I can safely vouch for Andrew having it as well since he is Sweden in pbem 109. The only thing some of us have added was Russian Guard's 1792 All Generals mod, but that is a seperate scenario and we didn't have any issues playing the 'no frills' game so I don't think that's an issue.

Only thing I can think of is if Randomizer didn't delete the files created from the false start and that is causing some sort of conflict. Doesn't sound like it if he sent the files to Marshal and still doesn't work though.

Well, after Andrew says yes, then we will need to perhaps try redoing the turn once before I get Eric to look at the files (though there shouldn't be a problem getting him to do that).

Did anyone here have experience with "Westphalian Discord"? How did that file corruption issue work out? Did you try to redo the previous turn?

There is another 1792 scenario with someone playing as Denmark isn't there?

LOL. Okay. Step two. Lets all redo our turns and resubmit them.

Then I will see if I can get Eric to pick it apart. :) He's a busy man and when I go to him, I want to be sure that it's the real deal 90% of the time! In the mean time, I will keep him updated on our experiement!

I would advise that Randomizer get rid of all of the turn's files so we don't get any new ones mixed up with the old ones! I will keep the old ones in a separate file to send them to Eric if/when needed.

I think somebody might have used the old turn 1 all files from Spain to do their turn 1 and thus the incompatability.

Mus, you may have a point. But if they did that, HOW did the first turn's combination work? Am I missing something?

Do we need to start from freaking scratch?
