In the morning I-169 gets forced down by a PC at Penhryn island, that one that is between Pago Pago and Suez, it had been parked there several days till on the 8th it gets put under by the PC, it comes up later and has the Enterprise in its sights and puts the a torpedo into this ship for the second time in the war. This comes at an opportune time.

South/Central Pacific

Things have become very routine. After the torpedoing of the CV Enterprise we have spotted what appears to be this force NE of christmas Islands, our sub shot and missed at one of its normal escorts.

On the 14th we tagged a TK on its way home to the west coast! Those TK's look big in the periscope, love to see them. It had been very quiet in this area, probably a few weeks since we had last spotted anything.

For about 4 days all quiet then with new patch scott began hitting my airfield at Nadii with fighters and some med bombers, it gets repaired daily.
The rest allowed it to fix itself. Both large forces stare at each other across the imaginary line seperating Suva from Nadii. I have no planes at Nadii.

The units from Darwin were finally retreated into Daly Waters, they must be close to dissapearing, there are 13 allied units at Daly Waters now at least 8 are routed and Scott interrupted my bombing with the arrival of Kittyhawks and some new Beaufighters, it cost of 7 bombers but Zero's quickly showed up the next couple of days to reduce this threat!

India

In NE India most of the allied units have been broken and retreated to around Imphal and the two dot bases. He tries to run some units out, but bombers hit them and my forces catch and retreat them back towards the area. I have 4 plus divisions pushing towards Imphal nothing can stop us short of finding a large supply of Saki.

We stopped bombarding for about a week to recover fatigue and have begun again, I don't notice a lot of difference in causalties but supply could be going faster. I have just moved my engineering assault units back into Calcutta. We intend to take what we came for, they assaulted across but made it over relatively intact.

Overall the game has entered a monotonous stage, till one side of the other engages.

July 15th thru 19th 1942

India

Bombarding Calcutta daily again, no movement either side in that area, my airforce bombards while his licks it wounds and rebuilds. For those Japanese I highly recommend the Nick’s vs heavybombers and P-38’s, in vets hands they perform well.

Imphal area, we have moved into Imphal, and have move into dot base 46 miles NW of there, both bases have forces, one Combat Engineer against orders shocked, the base NW. But it gave us the measure of the enemy.

We are moving in on Daly Waters, our bombers stopped due to losing a ½ dozen when Beu’s and Kitties started operating, since then sweeps by zero’s almost daily, we usually 2-1 to 3-1 advantage in planes. He also has some B-25’s flying from south starting to hit my troops, I will need to move Baseforces closer so I can CAP at short range, currently I let my troops handle the slight annoyance.


South Pacific

Aside from the Daily bombing of Nadii, which is increasing damage daily. I noticed a convoy moving in a few day’s ago. I sent of 4 DD’s to investigate and they engaged twice. One was lost but another example of why the Japanese spirit is stronger then the allied steel!

We spotted that convoy with the TK mobilstation which we mistook for sunk and had all Subs converge on its track, it had no escorts and the carnage lasted until the very last day!
Plus we got another shot at the TK mobilstation.

July 20th thru 24th

India

We shock Imphal down to level zero forts, have to rest a couple of days, at the base the the NW we shock again and just miss 1 to 1, I will need to use combined arms on these two forts.

Scott has been bombing one of my SNLF's that wandered to far north, It spotted a stack of 24 units[X(] at the next town north.


Australia

We landed and recaptured Port Hedland, pushing a partial Regiment back. Scott wiped out a tank unit, and we just marched into Daly Waters.
Airbattles happen daily over Daly!!!! With our zero's taking down 3 to 5 to 1 in kittyhawks. Experiance is on our side.

Suva

Those battered transports retreated to Tongatapu and several have been torpedoed by subs, as they have no escorts.

My subs also spotted the BB Warspite and Idaho just south of Suva, I though they had left the area.

North Pacific

3 liberators bomb Unmak all else is quiet.

China

We move forces into Changsa, we shall be trying an assault soon!

I know Scott pretty well and he plays for the fun of it, win or lose, so I think in this game, a victory is a victory regardless of the game mechanics.

We are up to August 1942, not much has happened other then normal runs.

July was probably the quietest month, with only small gains reported. The Allied command has moved out of Ichang and has moved next to the Japanese city to the south. Not sure how much supply he has but its a large stack and I have to deal with it.

In india as you can see below, the last 2 bases with troops behind my lines are being bombarded. An assault on one will come shortly. Otherwise pretty quiet except air bombings by both sides.

Australia has centered by to Daly Waters where we both have troops and both bomb from the air, Scott with B-25's and some liberators. I have airdominance and have shut Daly's field down.

South Pacific.
He hits Nadii almost daily with over 120 planes, the airfield is in shambles but when he lets up it repairs quickly. Other then that quiet.

Central Pacific
crickets can be heard since just after start of war.

North Pacific
Our subs bagged a transport a few days ago heading up the canadian coast we saw men drowning. We just spotted this same group 300 miles heading for possibly Cold Bay, it appears the allied command wants to build an airfield closer to us since we took Unmak. This area could get interesting, I will have to check when the cold weather conditions take affect. Aside from that its been quiet.

Political Points. As you can see I have plenty, I have paid for 3 divisions out of Kwantang plus some air units thats all., not sure what to spend the rest on, but at the moment my shipping is to busy to pull the troops. I have upgraded very few leaders, probably need to take time to do this before the allied advance begins.

I have not moved any units out of China as I want to push Scott all the way back to CHungking (In a Witp game vs Jutland13, I finally stopped the Japanese with only 3 bases left in china) I am trying to achieve that same success. But we shall see.

In our game I believe Scott will agree, artillary has only been a factor maybe 5 or 6 times and both sides have benefited. Since the last patch we have not seen any devastating results. The high military losses can be attributed to 6 major areas.
1) Normal Singapore, Manila, Java Losses
2) China encirclements and losses. Currently Changsa is completely surrounded and cutoff from supply.
3) Losses of upfront defending at Port Morseby, Noumea
4)Losses of Aussies in Northern Australia
5) Burma and India, With the landings at Diamond Harbor then the quick expansion out, I trapped a lot of forces here and have engaged and damaged many. There are two holdouts Imphal and Silchar left.
6) Minor loss in North Pacific of 1/3 division at Attu and the 10k forces at Adak.

Our losses have not been major and it appears our mommentum for advance has been checked at Fiji. We still have some push left, but I am consolidating the defence at the moment. Both navies have dissapeared at the moment. Probably upgrades for the allied command or supporting the north. For me, well we just have to wait and see.

We have just started August, Scott has very experianced fighter pilots at Suva in P-39's and P-40's. I dread when they start upgrading shortly.

In carriers the KB was gutted in their last encounters of the quaility Divebomers and Kates. The fighters are still very good. Since then they have taken the quiet to rebuild these arms. They should be an equal or superior Match the the Allied CV's for the next few months. As I believe with Scott down 2 CV's we have the advantage with Hiyo and Junyo in the mix.

In the North the previously spotted convoy shows up at Cold Bay and gets a rude message from the Japanese Airforce. The skies are not friendly. At least 5 transports go under with several to follow. Although the allied command is able to unload over 11,000 troops in two units, it will not avail them. We believe they wish to make this their forward airbase.

The Chinese that marched from Ichang and retreated a Japanese division and tank unit have marched within 40 miles of the next largest town. Unfortunatly they left the back door wide open and a partial Japanese division captures and empty Ichang and obliberates it 5 forts. Unfortunatly Allied bombers have begun hitting this formation, as we also hit theirs. They seem to get the better of the deal. Zero's trying to CAP end up on the shorter end when F4F-3's escort as we fly longer range. We are going to have to handle this a little differently.

It appears the Americans are coming from several directions, and its not by the sea. This area should prove interesting over the coming months.

We retreated the troops the troops from Impal one more time towards the last dot base to the south. The other stack of 5 units approx 10k troops has made it to the clear and is going to try and rejoin the forces to the north, its a long march and our bombers are going to follow them the whole way. They also might find some troops blocking along the way also. Don't think I can corner them but I can make sure less survive. As this area cools down the area around Calcutta should heat up in the coming weeks.

Scott sent in another supply convoy to Cold Bay a sub tagged one but they made it in and out without any other interferance. He appears to have landed a division plus another unit will have to reconn better.

Our Zero's flying form Cold Bay on drop tanks took down about 6 P-38's trying to LRCAP cold bay for no losses. The P-38's have dissapeared.

All is quiet except the 150 allied planes pounding my troops at Nadii, from Suva. Samurais can take it. The airfield goes from servicable a little to no aircraft allowed.

China

The 14 unit stack running behind my lines headed to my weakest point Sinyang, it was hit by my bombers daily which allowed 3 divisions to catch the rearmost stack of 7 units. We routed these units, but the allied command after two days of battles and no supplies captured Sinyang. Their were few supplies at this base so these units are disrupted and supplyless and have 4 divisions chasing them down. It will take a few weeks to stablilize then we can continue with Changsa.

Near Chungking Scott has move a large stack of 22 units next to mine. I pulled back a little as his chinese bombers began to bomb, I do not have fighter protection yet.

Secured all bases east of Calcutta, chasing remnant units from these bases approx 8. Bombing of Calcutta by us. Scott has some units moving in. Besides that absolutly nothing.

We had the slight setback of scott bouncing some of our divisions near Chungking, since then absolutly nothing.

This is a period of transition where Japan consolidates its defense for the growing allied power, and the allied powers begin to setup for their pushback. I still have a couple of plans, but doubt I will have the ability to pull them off, as I believe the allied powers will begin their assault soon.

As for the Japanese Military machine, supplies, resources, fuel and oil flow well, our combat units are strong except for 3 divisions in China.
Our economy seems sound, and our navy strength is intact, and our pilot training programs are continueing strong.

As to airproduction, I missed two months by not switching some units to Tojo production in June. I noticed when the Oscar IIa's updated that the Tojo was a better plane and I should have started its production. I have since fixed that but it will take a few months to update frontline units as well as build reserve. One advantage to the Tojo is it uses the same engine as Oscar so no cost to change there.

Historical facts:

The Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki (meaning "Demon Queller" and codenamed "Tojo" by the Allies) was a single engine monoplane interceptor appearing in production throughout the war years. The system was designed with performance in mind and, as such, design focused more on a superior rate-of-climb and overall speed leaving other factors such as vision and maneuverability something to be desired. Despite their impressive fighter performance statistics, the Ki-44 was relegated to defense of the Japanese homeland as the Allied continually shrank Japanese territorial gains throughout the Pacific. Their heavy caliber armament did, however, proved mightily effective against the Boeing B-29 Superfortresses.

In china the Japanese had lost the initiative, in the last couple of weeks 11 units had rampaged thru our rear lines, The Chinese had routed 3 divisions near Chungking, and had also advanced into Tuyan and Hurricanes had been spotted in the skies. Something must be done, something had to be done.

The Japanese commanders had Changsa completely surrounded, no escape path. They had assualted twice before and been rebuffed both times but the forts had been brought down. With 5 divisions pulled out to chase the 11 units in our rear, the assualt was not looked upon well but something needed to be done to free up these units. The order was given an immediate shock assault!!!

The Battle of Changsha (September 6 ¨C October 8, 1941) was Japan's second attempt in taking the city of Changsha, China, the capital of Hunan Province as part of the second Sino-Japanese War.

The offensive was carried out by more than 120,000 Japanese troops, including supporting naval and aerial forces. The Chinese forces under the command of General Xue Yue, the ninth army group, conducted a response that included street battles right in Changsha city. Ten Chinese armies eventually reached Changsha, completely retaking the city. The Japanese suffered over 10,000 casualties (wounded, missing, and/or dead) and retreated.

The battle started when a small Chinese guerrilla force clashed with the Japanese 6th Division in the mountains southeast of Yueyang on September 6th. On the 17th, the Japanese crossed the Sinchiang River (ÐÂǽºÓ) at four points and made rapid advances, crossing the Milo River on the 19th. The main Chinese force avoided confronting the enemy but marched in a parallel fashion flanking the Japanese trail southward. However, the Japanese also attempted to flank and encircle the Chinese. This caused both the Chinese and the Japanese army to reach the Laotao River (À̵¶ºÓ) regions for an inevitable battle.

On September 27th, several hundred Japanese troops in plain clothes reached the north gate of Changsha but were unable to sabotage the city defenses, leading to heavy fighting on the 28th. Unable to overcome the defenders, the Japanese began a general retreat back to the Yueyang region on September 30th.
