T17. last turn of Clear weather (much to Trey's relief!). The new combat routines for Heavy woods kick in, and make the Soviets MUCH tougher - look at the combat value multiplier on this baby:

T17 Moscow. I'm sure this game is going to earn the nick name "for a few MPs more". If only I had a few more MPs to get across the river, Moscow would be mine.

T17 losses. I think AFV losses are about 75% of initial strength.

T17 production. About 100 less MkIII and MkIV than losses and about 150 less stugs than losses. I must minimise AFV losses during the Blizzard.

You should check your units ammo and see if it was particularly low in those attacks. In my RtL game I noticed my armor was getting very low on ammo and as they got low, they had a much harder time. I think they resorted to throwing rocks a few times and that explained some dismal attacks. This is something I never noticed before, I think partially due to supply bugs and partially due to the fact that a few months ago Gary made ammo more important. I found I couldn't just airdrop fuel to the Panzers and expect that they could keep attacking whenever I wanted them to as long as they had MPs. Forts are somewhat tougher, bad terrain is definitely tougher on armored vehicles, but I think ammo is also important now.

Joel,
Based on above, was thinking of adding following to section on ammunition:
Combat units with a low ammunition percentage will suffer a significant decline in combat effectiveness during battle, especially when attacking.
Let me know if addition is appropriate and if so, any changes I would need to make.
Thanks,
Al

Looks like you have done pretty well as the attacker. The few turns of snow will give you a chance to take Moscow, which you should be able to. Even in mud though you can conduct some attacks, just not very far, so maybe a few infantry assaults onto the city may take it even sooner.

Sure, I think that's a fair thing to say.

Start of turn 18 - first turn of mud. This illustrates why I love this game so much. The fact that there are consequences to everything you do or don't do. The first 2 turns of chasing Trey around pockets meant I could not get my rails constructed, so 16 turns later Army Group South gets totally isolated.
Cool!
