Wait wait wait, guys. I hope it is NOT over And you have to remember a very important thing. Attacking is more complicated than defending I always use this analogy: attacking = creative and defending = destructive. Destroying is obviously much easier than creating, in my opnion... SO, I still have to attack during the blizzard. And that will be another different story. Maybe I can ONLY prepare & execute a lousy attack.

Well I hate to ruin your idea[:D] but I am attacking in the blizzard after a german opponent didn't do enough damage to my army and if you have 6 million plus troops available for the blizzard then it is probably doomsday for the german army, at least based on what I have done so far. I would hope your opponent will fight it out but it will seems pretty terrifying once the horde starts breaking thru.

I hope he doesn't quit; having people drop out because they can't win will leave a lot of hurt feelings.  Hope it doesn't become a tendency that Axis players give up during/near the blizzard.

Agreed. I hope he does hang on and ride it out. Reinforcements for the Spring offensive start flooding in in Jan/Feb and it can be a morale booster (to the player, I mean) to see the new counters. And there's a lot to be learned about '42.

Here I didn't waste my time! I was er, very scared so did all my best to protect these two places. I started I guess on turn 2 or 3, when the many Leningrad and Moscow PM divisions arrived [PM = popular militia?] I could have sent them to the front but decided these two cities were VITAL. The irony, maybe now they are pretty safe, but who would have thought it on turn two or three?!

I had also read the "are fortified regions useless" thing? Those who said YES did not convince me at all... Who knows, maybe one of these fortified zones near Moscow could have made the difference and save Moscow (that on my book makes them IMPORTANT)! Because whatever people may say, a fort level 2, 3 or 4 is far better than a fort level... ZERO! Suffice to say that I would surround Moscow again with fortified regions if I were starting another game!

No, it's definitely over and I wouldn't be upset if the German player conceded in this case. It's sort of similar to my first Soviet game in which we amiably ended after turn 10, as my German opponent was getting hopelessly mired. The Soviet side is the easier imo and surprisingly have quite a few advantages initially. If the German doesn't play his cards right, before winter sets in, he will be swamped by a monster Russian Army who will get scary huge. The Russians need to be consistently whittled down. My rough estimate now is the Germans need to inflict at least 4+ million casualties, 10-1+ ratio, AND dig in sufficiently before winter to be in good shape for a 42 offensive.

What?!? The soldiers of the Wehrmacht NEVER QUIT! [:-]

Keep in mind a lot of these early games are going to be a very steep learning curve for the Axis player. Defense is always easier than the offense. Especially when your numbers really aren't that great after a month and a half. I guess there will be a lot of resignments but I expect that the Axis players who do weather the storm will only be better and better over time. It might take some effort to have some good axis players come about, where as I believe good Soviet players will be a dime a dozen.

The game is decided in 1944/45 - not 1941/42... [8D]

I don't know about surrender for the German even in this game. Yes I think Soviet is far ahead but 42 should be an interesting year. And hopefully the German can have some fun in 43/44 with a mobile defense that the Germans had a hard time getting permission from Hitler for.

Hopefully if SireChaos wants to pack it in that he would be gracious enough to pass it on to someone who may want to give it a shot.

Well, Sire Chaos is more or less trying to fix his exposed right flank (now I can see after using my recon planes). This of course had to happen. If he manages to do that then his dangerous Panzers can resume their course: they've been totally harmless since turn 9 [8D] Leningrad is way too far but I think he might want to capture Novgorod...

The thing is... I still want to keep pressure! [8D] Now I have oficially formed the 54th Army (Reserve aka Kalinin Front), in front of his right flank. I brought 5 divisions by train too... So I think it CAN be done again

I don’t know what are his plans (especially the scary Panzers), but if he tries to threaten Novgorod or even perhaps Kalinin, my forces are in place, ready to cut his forces again. That’s the idea!

EDITED: his Achilles' Heel is very obvious here. NOT enough infantry. So in fact I doubt he is going to start offensive actions now. That would be very dangeorus, if I am not mistaken.

So, given that my situation is not that bad, I have sent 3 rifle and 1 cavalry divisions to the zone... More to follow, possibly [8D]

Ok... Massive strategic re-deployment... As I said many posts ago, I had many comrades in the Southwestern Front (keep in mind that Sire Chaos did not trap almost anything on this front, I mean on the first turns).

So... what are the most dangerous enemy units right now? The Panzers in front of Kursk, I suspect. I really don't know what will be their next move. After all, maybe all Sire Chaos wanted was to help his AGS to cross the Dnper... It worked. I saw his panzers and thought that maybe he wanted to recreate the real world mega pocket near Kiev (Bletchey_Geek's opinion). Or as Senno said maybe he would be planning a move towards more or less Tula.

Given that there are quite many comrades in the Southwestern Front and in the Center I send the excess of divisions south of Tula... just in case [:)]
