Nice job. In center. I am guessing you have destoried about same number of production pts as I have in my 1.04.24 game (Wrong). You did better in center and not as good in south. Crimea area might be a pain in butt.

Moving you panzers down from the north of Moscow was a nice move i failed to make in my game. If I would have done the same my game would basicly be over.

I say you have upper hand at this point and simply need to dig in and pocket what you can during 42. Unless of course I am wrong about how many production pts you destoryed.

Well, things are looking bright, but I lost 3 motorized divisions, one was maybe justified, but the other two were unnecessary and careless of me. But then I can replace them, and the Soviet industry destroyed is irreplacable. Still, I don't think I did more than reduce Soviet production by 10 or at the most 20%, and that's not very much. Of course I hold the big population center of Moscow and the surrounding towns, and that should hurt the Soviets as well.

Turn 20. Mud. Not much interesting happening to show on a map. I do conduct a number of attacks where the Soviets have put weak units in the front. Who says you can't attack in mud? I took several hexes here and there, and inflicted about 10-1 in losses. One more mud turn to go, if I am counting correctly.

You should have him down to around 2400 to 2450 as far as manpower goes and that will hurt him some what. You also put a hurt on his rail and wiped allot of plane factories.
You did not put to big of a hole in his ap and hvy count. Less then 15% from int reports.. Not sure what is historical.

Guessing from past exp I say game is still in the balance. He did very good railling out allot of stuff and you did good taking Leningrad and Moscow.

As far as the lost divisions go, when you play the GHC you have to take big risks. If you dont take huge risks your not going to win.

We took different paths to what we hope is victory. You basicly did what the German High Command wanted to do Leningrad and Moscow and I did what Hitler wanted to do Leningrad and south. The problem was both sides compromised and did none of the above.

Your doing good so far.

Tarhunnas,

Good job so far, but if you don't commit significant forces to solve that problem you have in the Crimea it will be a very painful Winter for you.

Regards,

- Erik

You have time to respond to the threat. As cutting the rail link from the Crimea to the rest of Russia prevents Russian use of the Crimean rail net, maintaining an offensive will be very difficult for the Russians here.

Turn 21. Last mud turn.

Here is the central part of the front after German moves. Note suspicious Soviet buildup (circled). Might he be contemplating a winter offenive in that area?

The South.

Soviet concentration around Stalino, but I think that is for defensive purposes. STAVKA must know I will want to capture the Donbass cities during snow.

Note not many Soviets north of the Crimea, despite intense recon. I am not so sure the Soviets are such a threat there...

The north is very quiet, and no enemy concentrations detected. Might they be hiding in the woods?

Losses and OOB after turn 21. The Soviets outnumber me in everything.

And for completeness, production, filtered to German production.

You will almost certainly see an attack in the Kursk area (I think it's Kursk?). Wouldn't be surprised if he hits back hard in the south, especially if you decide to attack during snow. Your units won't be dug in and he has a lot of stuff there already.

Yeah, I think the Kursk - Kharkov area will be the venue. Plus wherever he can hit me.

I need to attack att Stalino, I want to knock out that industry. And I will be reasonably safe in the cities, but I will be prepared to fall back if needed.

Edit: Also note the units in the port on the southern shore of Taganrog Bay? I think he might be contemplating a landing.

Turn 22. Snow.

Shot of Soviet recon. The area north of the Crimea is the only place the Ivans are making recon flights. Hmmm... That should tell us something...

Comment: In my view, it is not really realistic that players should have a complete picture of the other sides recon flights. Perhaps there should be a chance of 30% or so to detect enemy recon flights?

Turn 22. Snow.

Attack southeastwards from Tula with parts of Panzer Groups 2 and 3. The intention was to either threaten Lipetsk or encircle the Soviet units to the West, but the attack petered out without accomplishing either. I should have prepared that better, perhaps with a buildup. Now the surprise is gone, and I am not sure it will be worthwile to continue next turn. Still, it might upset the Soviets or make them pull back.

My intention is to be back in my original lines by Blizzard, I do not intend to spend blizzard in a big bulge on the steppes.

In the Donbass, Panzer Group 1 storms Stalino and Makeevka and continue beyond. The intention was to curve down south and trap some Soviet forces against the Sea, but they have built up horrendously strong forces beyond the cities. We will see next turn how the Soviets react and if reaching the sea is still practicable. We did capture the cities though, and destroyed the industry, which was the main objective. Gorlovka should fall easily next turn.
