Only America plays true football. Do you think any European country could place a team on the field that could beat north Texas ? I do t think so. Even a combined Eurpean team would only kick a field goal against Florida State.

Much use of HANDS in your kind of FOOTball though [:'(]

And as we are near the end of the Olympic wintersportgames.... don't forget the paralympics will be held 7-16 march.

http://www.paralympic.org/

Let me tell you I've been an athlete since I was twenty and I am 52 now, usually training with guys/gals half my age (sigh) and training/working out/exercising, can be lots of fun but also hard/boring/painful and stressful. Now go imagine doing all that *but* with the added handicap of say having only one leg, or no legs at all, or no eyesight, or whatever. Therefore I have the highest admiration and respect for these paralympians [&o]

For me tv coverage should be the same as the "normal" Olympic games.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

A good reminder for folks going through whatever hardship they might be going through as a good lesson in adversity and triumph. We could all learn a lot from these athletes.

Here is a updated medal table.

Note that Norway has not performed as well as they had expected or wanted in the cross-country skiing. But despite this they have a whole bunch of medals in various events. Including several in cross-country skiing. They are a true inspiration to all winter sport nations. [&o]

Netherlands rule the speed skating events. Well done.

Switzerland has impressive performance during these games. Cheers!

Thank you thank you. Not too long ago the scandinavian countries were our most feared opponents, but not this time. I was also suprised to see Shani Davis perform not his best, that guy is very well known and liked here.

We did not even have anyone starting the 10.000m. It is a disgrace imo :(
2 more golds today though, so the olympics are coming out ok after all.

Terje
I am surprised that you are not considering this the best Olympic Games ever by Norway. I suppose the demands are high in Norway that the cross-country skiing take even more medals. But looking at all events I think that Norway rule these games.

Cheers.

Many in Sweden consider this our best Winter Olympics ever although we have had games where we have taken more gold medals. If we should manage to beat Canada in the hockey then it is no longer any doubt about it. But with three Canadian referees in the final I have my doubts.

Nah, as you said, the men's crosscountry was subpar, and not even close to any medals in skating.
In terms of number of medals in total it is ok, but not great.
And yes, I suppose demands are rather high here in Norway.

They played well against Canada but looked awful against Finland.
