The weather in the Bering Sea is Blizzard. There's a 40% chance for the weather to change to snow next impulse and allow the invasion attempt.

A small invasion task force in place to threaten Kwajalein if the US pull those troops elsewhere.

In addition to capturing victory locations and / or destroying more allied carriers than the Japanese lose, they must keep 5 pts of convoys afloat in the South China and China Seas.

January / February 1943. Allied Impulse #7.
The turns continues to fly by and the weather for these next two impulses does not improve. So no Japanese invasion attempts.

The USN did move the CV Lexington II, the BB North Carolina and a CA from San Francisco to Pearl, which disorganized all three ships. However; Nimitz and MacArthur used their command influence to reorganized and make them fit for duty this turn. These ships are ready to sortie and meet the Japanese threat if the weather happens to clear before this game ends.

January / February 1943. Japanese Impulse #10.
The Japanese choose a combine option in order not to increase the odds of the game ending due to a pass. They're hoping that the weather turns favorable.

January / February 1943. Allied Impulse #13.
The weather remains too foul in the two potential invasion areas. So Pago Pago and Dutch Harbor remain safe from Japanese invasion for 2 more impulses. Also, there's a very good (70% chance) that the game will end after this allied move. If the allies do nothing and the turn does end then the allies, with a +17 margin in VPs, will win a substantial victory, which is 4 agonizing points short of a decisive victory.
The allies have one last play though, which involves minimum risk, that could net them a decisive victory. In fact, the risk is that the allies will reduce their margin of victory by 4, to +13, which is still a substantial victory. So really, there's nothing to lose for the allies to try. Those are the types of risk / gain situations that I like. [:)]

The plan is for the CW to move their 1 CV and all CAs that they've been holding in reserve to the South China Sea and attack the critical Japanese convoys there. Also, the CW and USN will attempt to engage and sink the critical convoys in the China Sea with the 2 RN BBs and 2 USN subs in that area.
Both sea areas have 7 convoys points at sea. If the allies can reduce that number in one of the areas to 1 or 0 (i.e., sink and / or abort 6 or 7), or to 3 or less in both, then they'll win a decisive victory assuming nothing else of significance happens this turn.

No contact made in either area. The turn and the game ends with the allies winning a substantial victory.
I wish to thank everyone who's taken the time to follow this AAR. And, I wish to especially thank those of you who have taken the additional time to comment, provide strategy suggestions and rule clarifications.
I feel that my understanding of how naval warfare works in MWiF (WiF) has grown by leaps and bounds from when I first began this AAR. My appreciation and love of MWiF (WiF) has grown significantly too.
I realize that I've still got a whole lot to learn in terms of the rules, tactics and strategies before my play reaches a respectable level. But, I feel I'm no longer a wide eyed novice, with that deer in the headlights look.
I do solicit all constructive comments, both positive and especially critical / negative, on both my play and understanding of the game. For me, who will likely always play solitaire, that's really the only way to learn.
Thanks again and I hope you've enjoyed this AAR as much as I have had playing / writing it.

Thanks!
Just finished the Barbarossa scenario. This is the second time that I played it. These scenarios go fast if you aren't posting an AAR. I started this last one on Sunday and finished it today (Wednesday). Check out posts 113 & 114 in

Also, I'm doing another AAR playing CEaW GS over in the Slitherine forum. Check it out in
