The German launch a new round of attack in France, using troops refreshed by various headquarters. In the east of France, it is time to start reducing the trapped units.
The axis is lucky as the weather holds good.

At last, Paris falls, once again with an heroic defense that takes with it several attackers.
This blow should be fatal.
But the German are facing a dilemna: what next ?

The advanced French units are destroyed. This cleans up the East a little.

Meanwhile, Mao survives a Japanese attack, but must retreat in the mountains.

The situation in France is bleak, but France is far from being conquered should that be the German war goal. In particular, the city of Lyons could hold longer than Paris considering its position in the mountains, shielded by rivers.

While little is said on the seas, they are not out of the combat.
The Italians dutifully sortie their submarines every turn, but only to meet with failure.
The British do too, and they are more successful.
This will cost the Italians yet another convoy, and put once more the Italian African army out of supply.

Germany would also like to clean up the entrenched French units in Rouen, but not at any cost. A softening by air fails.

However, a French HQ is severely hit by artillery rounds.

An attack might be planned against the weeky defende city of Tungkwan, but only with the help of air power, with misses...

So instead, the Japanese plan and execute an attack in the mountains north of the city. This will later give a strong point that both protects the Japanese lines and threatens the city. It also opens up the possibility of bypassing it.

In China, the Japanese are ready to take losses to capture another strong point that will definitely protect the rear railway lines, and open the way to the Fukien mountainous province.

Germany continues its clean up, but not at any cost.

In China, the Japanese have reached a pretty dominant position, although China is far from being on its knees.

And in France, well... the map tells the story.

The Speptember turn lasts unexpectedly long, with good weather.

(note that I clicked too fast : the Italians did initiate the combat, but the British would have anyway ; so there is no incidence.)

But the German take the opportunity of weakly (?) defended convoys in the Feroe Gap to sink them. Usually, the British convoys were too far for the German subs to reach them.

It seems useful to cut the French units from each other, so an attack is launched on the Maginot line. It mostly succeeds, but the cost is higher than expected. Was it worth it ? likely not.

That is quite different from the combat in Southern China, where the steep cost is actually matched by the result: the last really bothering Nationalist unit is now out of the picture and the southern mountain range is now clear. This will make life much easier for some time, as the Chinese will have to regroup around a threatened Changsa.
