Here's the NW corner of the front lines right now. I've been moving units, this is round 4 and I've cleaned up the
peninsula fairly well. Now to evacuate everybody that I can spare and send them south into the better supply levels.

Here's the area around Gomel right now. We're still fighting over rivers and their crossings and in the middle I've
finally broken out into the good terrain and now if only we had some supply we could really make some good progress.

This is Kiev right now. I've squeezed them into a few hexes and lots of my troops are heading to the area just to the
NE of Kiev to get on the east side of the river to complete the surround on Kiev. I have hopes on taking down Kiev
without a lot of heavy losses.

Here's what's going on around Pskov. I've got a lot of wide open avenue's for the Soviets to drive their tanks down
but so far it's working. I can get away with this because Elmer is stupid. Too focused to look around. The problem
with this situation is that I'm probably not going to get any more troops for a while.

The supply levels around Orsha have improved slightly as the single digit areas are further east and the fighting is
going on still. I thought maybe I should call a halt on the advance but mop up around the river banks is done and
the way seems clear to make pushes and shoves to the east in some areas at least.

Here's the Orsha area right now. We're attacking when we have the supply, otherwise we just dig in and wait. Rest and
gather our supply. It's going to be a long war, take your time, do it right.

There's only room for one picture so I chose Kiev to show you.

This is the Smolensk area right now. If you look closely you may notice that most of the Axis units are tired to
varying degrees. The supply situation is poor at the front edge of the advance and I think I need to establish
some rest camps close behind the lines for the tired ones to refit and refresh at, in, under, etc.

This is the Odessa area right now. I've squeezed the Soviets into a small group, now to pound them with arty for a
while and then begin the assaults. I want to whittle down their arty a bit before I start the assaults however.

Larry i know that taking cities can be a bloodbath but yous supply situation would be greatly enhanced by taking Kiev & Smolensk which have supply dump.
All this dependent of your abilities and defenders[&o]

Hey that's a good idea. I had forgotten all about that. This is good news. I have more optimism now. This is doable
after all. Thanks.
I've looked up in the scenario briefing where the supply dumps are and I've got new goals now.

I've got this rather large hole in my front lines guarded by an MP unit but it seems to be working so far. I can get
away with this because of the ineptness of Elmer. He's too focused on the trees to see the forest.

This is the area around Smolensk right now. There's several pending battles and this view is typical of the front lines
in other places as well...that the fighting is still going on despite the low level of supply but it's going in slow
motion and erratic. Progress has slowed to a standstill except in the south.

I find the squad element symbols to be unimmersive and confusing. Any thoughts on this?
Also, what GUI settings do you use? I like to set it up like TOAW 3 without popups. Wish I just uninstall all TOAW IV UI and keep the internal game changes.

I'll post a picture of my settings after this post. This post is to show you the button you need to go to the
classic-style UI and don't feel bad, you're not the only one. I know of at least one beta tester who uses the
classic-style UI and seems to like it just fine.
My thoughts on the squad element symbols.....I'm not sure what the topic is here. Could you be more specific in
your complaint? Are you refering to the divisions that are labeled as squad elements?

Didn't want to hijack your thread but, I like your opinions. You know I'm also having trouble with these forums otherwise I'd post in Steve's thread. TamasK is out until 04JAN. :/
I know about the classic UI button and I use it as well. The new interface seems disorganized. A great upgrade would have been to allow the user to choose the button layout and their functions in the classic style perhaps via scripting. I see you use the new interface. Will take some getting used to it for me. Wish I could at least start a game with the classic by default.
Steve uses squad element symbols for formations lower than regimental level. While those formations are actually company or battalions themselves. I find it confusing but, guess it's his designer's artistic license. Maybe it is helpful to the player to distinguish a divided unit's parent organization.
