I want to use the RR arty on Leningrad and it's defenders so I'm going to need
a rail that leads up there so I've got one RR engineer working on that and I'm
extending the rail to the east south of Leningrad so there's two RR engineers
down there, one working north and the other one working east. I'm not expecting
much from them but the priority is not considerable yet. Their workikng stations
are subject to change at any time.

Here's the Smolensk area right now. I see some supply points further to the
east that I'd like to have. I'll see what I can do toward getting those bad
boys.

Here's the area around Chernigov, NE of Kiev about 100km. I've forced the
crossings and I'm driving Axis units into the territories and the supply level
is almost adequate everywhere. I'm mopping up and moving south and progress
is being made slowly.

Those are minor Soviet supply points.

Those are minor Soviet supply points.
Thanks, Rick, for qualifying those things. If I take them away from the
Soviets that would be a good thing.

Kiev finally fell, and as a coincidence, Odessa fell as well, same turn. I've started railing the RR arty toward Leningrad as it's a two-day trip. I've got the Italians headed for the east side of Kiev and the Hungarians are helping the Rumanians in the south and I'm going to use the 11th Army units on Sevastopol and the most progress is being made about 100km to the NE of Kiev as Axis units pour across a newly captured river crossing or two. I'm just about to run out of units to pour however, so I may have to start shipping units from the Z-town area to Gomel to get on the east side of Kiev as there's no direct route between the two points and it's a two-day trip from the south to arrive at Gomel.

Here's what it looks like from Staraya Russa to Smolensk and this section of
the front lines appears to have adequate supply so far. I started plotting
some of the supply bubbles but it started to look busy. I've been looking this
over and I've been seeing places where I haven't bothered to place a light screen
yet and there's gaps in the lines. Gotta rectify that soonest. I've got about
a dozen He-111 squadrons stood down because they are missing more than 4 planes
from the unit.
As soon as they are missing only 3 or less I'll fly them again.
That way the squadron will tend to stay at peak strength.

Here's what's going on around Smolensk currently. I'm trying to surround a
small group of Soviet units so I can kill them without their equipment going
to the Soviet pools. Moscow is getting closer all the time.

A recent post by me complained that the game engine that I was using didn't
work out and that I had to drop back to a earlier version and as it turns
out that the version I dropped back to had the same problem so I'm dropping
back to 4.0.1.23 for my game engine and I'm having to drop back to T22 and
work forward from there.

This is the T22 front lines before I have moved anybody.

Here's me looking at the northern front lines currently and I see all the Finns
at the stop line and I'm stripping off units to join the fighting up north. I
want to see if I can capture the port at Murmansk.

A couple of turns ago I was complaining that I had come down with a bad case
of "victory disease" and had chased some Soviet units too far south and had left
a gap in the front lines that I had need to plug real quick because of the
appearance of several Soviet units and I used what MP's, engineers, AA units,
whatever was handy and formed a screen with them and now this turn I'm starting
to get some stout units into the fray and may have stemmed the breakthrough at
last. More people yet would be good.

I lucked out somehow and have surrounded some Soviet units and I'm now trying to
take them out of the game which will free up a lot of my follow on forces and I
can try it again on another group of Soviet units. Elmer doesn't react well to
being surrounded and most of the time I can make it work. On occasion Elmer will
pull his units out of the pocket and it doesn't work.

Here's the area to the NE of Kiev and depicts the Axis forces pouring into
the virgin territories on the east side of the major river that runs through
Kiev, I forget the name. These are all the units in this AO and they are
mostly heading south because I'm trying to kill the Soviet units that are
hanging around the river crossings. If I can open those crossings the supply
level will increase because of the proximity of the railhead on the west side
of the river.

I've bridged the river near Z-town and I've got units moving across the river
on pontoons and small boats and spreading out and converting the roads and rails.
I'll show you a picture of it.

Here's that area down south that I was talking about in the previous post.
I've bridged the river with some engineers and the units are driving across
as fast as they can to try to get a foothold on the east side before the
Soviets move into the area in force.

Odessa is down to just a couple of hexes now. I'm going to try to wrap it
up this turn or next I think. And the troops can then be used in the Crimea.

Here's the area around D-town currently and you can see how I'm leaping over
the river and spreading out to get a foothold on the other sides of the river.

Here's the area NE of Kiev, the east side of the river. I'm flooding in across
the river and into the Soviet territory beyond. The supply levels are starting
to trickle down and is too low to operate any more in this area. I'll just dig
in and wait for a higher level, rest and refit for the units here.

I was watching a movie about WWII and it had this day by day advance of the
Germans into Russia and I thought it might be handy to judge against my front
lines when I get to 25Dec43 to see if I've won the contest to do as well as
the real life Germans did.
