Stalin was well served by his generals. A concentrated force of powerful Soviet armor smashed through south of Stuttgart and on to attack a fully loaded airfield. 45 flights of Wellingtons were operating out of this base and over the course of the month the defenders were not able to hold the Red Tanks off. This serious loss has the RAF demanding better security, and more remote basing. The attack will make UN air forces rethink basing.

The combat activity during the Soviet phase was not painful for France. This will change in March as orders require ground combat which is far more deadly for the attacker.
