I can take this one. Ignore it.

This roll is for our 4-player game when Germany DOW Belgium and warspite1 should have put in our French players email but accidently (apparently) put in your email there instead.

So wrong player and wrong game.

Impulse: 9 (Axis)

Land Combat:
Germany

On behalf of the CW I choose Assault as there is nowhere to retreat to.

Yes, there was a retreat path: Onto the units to the southeast, for an over stack, and then one more hex southeast. Of course, since the die roll was a 23, it makes no difference which table was chosen.
The assault and no retreat comment was for the German attack on Belgium. And the Poles had nowhere to go.

Did I read the rules wrong? If units are totally and completely surrounded are they able to leapfrog over the enemy to safety?

No, you are correct.

I think that there is a misunderstanding here. Courtenay is talking about the Chinese assault where a retreat path was available. While warspite1 correctly concluded that the Poles had no retreat path.

Quick impulse. Basically all we did was some landmoves and some airrebases. Ronnie has already posted the USSR and Chinese moves.
The only naval action was the US that reinforced Honolulu with Nimitz and a gun.
The CW moved their Blenheim to Gibraltar.

The CW moved closer to the Italians around Tobruk

Honolulu reinforced!

The turn did not end, we rolled an 8. It had to be 4 or less to end.
Over to the Axis.

Do they plan to invade Eastern Poland, or are they in fact moving westwards?
