Critical battle at Rangoon this turn.

Not sure how it will play out but decided to shock attack anyway. Fortune favours the brave.[:)]

Update early Jan 42

China- good progress still occurring in Northern China. Managed to catch a large Chinese unit with armour retreating from Sian and gave it a thrashing in open terrain. Will press on and see where Lowpe will create his next line of resistance.

China cont- will also start applying some pressure around Southern China near Changsha and see what reaction I get.

If he overcommits either in the South or North I will try to capitalise on it.

Rangoon will fall in a day or two.

I am surprised at the extent Lowpe is fighting with his ground forces. Usually I don't encounter much resistance as the Allies traditionally run away. Looks like elements of the Burma Army mixed in with the Chinese are trying to hold ground here.

I sense opportunities here if this continues.

Mopping up continues in Sumatra and Malaya.

Singapore looks very strong- will bypass and comeback to it in April/ May 42. The trapped units there aren't going anywhere. Need to maximise my adventures in Oz and India first.

Perth- WA

This is interesting as well. Lowpe has deployed plenty of combat power and looks like he is spoiling for a fight on the ground.

I'm bit underweight here and may have to initially pullback and regroup before hitting him on the flanks.

Again interesting, bold play by the Allies.

One for the audience-Note the American unit here on the map- how did he get that to Oz so quickly and any guesses as to what it might be?????

East Coast Oz.

This is the more traditional defence I am used to encountering. A smattering of some light units withdrawing in reasonable order (aside from the supporting units that have been cut off from the initial landings)

Ashore in good order with bombings of Oz cities to commence in a couple of days.

No issue/ surprises here.

The annoyance of Rabaul soon to be set straight.

The only real place in the first month that has cost me a stack of men and amphip vessels for very little gain.

I got about half of his raiders who caused me so much grief.

Summary- first month

Lost a lot more AKs/ APs than I am used to but the Allies have never stopped fighting which has been very entertaining. Warship losses outside of Zuhio and Kingusa have been non-existent.

Happy to continue to lose the odd AK/ AP to continue to push as hard as possible before the Amphib bonus ends. I am well acquainted to the slaughter of the IJN merchant fleet in 44 and 45, so losing 40 to 50 Aks in a reasonable productive manner is not going to worry me too much.

Which leads me to my key point. I would argue in the first 12 to 18 months the key centre of gravity of the Japanese Empire is not actually KB but the humble IJA infantry man. KB is fragile and can be hit or miss on its anti-shipping missions. Hard to catch decent Allied players with it as well.

However, if you can land these powerful assault divisions deep in Allied territory in early 42 they can run amok.

I can't answer your US unit question because I read both AARs. I will say that I actively follow both and I appreciate the time you take to write this.

Thank you,
T Rav

Thanks T Rav,

You need to come over to the winning side!

No problem at all, happy to entertain an audience in my misadventures [:D]

I would say that the guy in back is ready to cut up some watermelons for a snack.

I also read both AARs, very entertaining and educational.

I read both AARs, but I don't know what that unit is....anything in the Pensacola convoy (3 US Arty Bns, and a Base Force) could easily get there by early January. Aside from that, it would have to be something from the Phillipines.

FOW?

Honestly no idea, and yes it is early to have US forces in OZ ... so, I'm thinking FOW, but I don't know if that is actually a possible result ...

It's truly fun for me. I like seeing both sides and I encourage you both (and all the other folks) to keep at it and keep writing. I love the detail and the strategy that goes into it.

Again, Thank You and now I'm back to Lurking,

I was thinking the same as someone else mentioned the convoy heading for the Pago-Pago-Suva axis could make it in OZ by your date to engage them in western OZ.

Thanks Guys for your input. Yes I think that is correct it was a support unit but in the end I scuttle away with out engaging it due to the pressure the Allies were putting on Perth [:(]

Well I know where the Allies main effort is at the moment- WA, Perth.

Eventually the 21st Division was thrown out of Perth and after some fierce fighting our surface forces will have to redraw to replenish and repair. Total cost over the last couple of days would be 3 DDS for the IJN and 1 CA and 1 DD for the Allies.

I intend to regroup the 21st, the armoured units and the accompanying Inf regts and start pushing for his flanks. Losses are not significant at all.

Heavy fighting on the East Coast as well. No naval forces but Lowpe has forward deployed some half decent land units which I would love to bag.

Taking Bundaberg quickly is the key. Mines have been causing havoc amongst the amphib forces but generally they don't sink ships just bang them up.

Minor strat bombing has started on some of the resource centres

Reasonable progress here- I am still thinking I want chunks of Southern India for their industry.

Not sure if I have the land forces but I will explore the possibilities.[;)]
