Also there is a river crossing Pskov coming from the lake. Perhaps, you could play with this too. And, I am not a fan of a super river to cut the lake in two.
Good suggestions! I did some research and the area between the two lakes is narrow (upper right of the map below, 16 Aug 1944 arrow) ) and should be crossable given 'sufficent logistics', likely barges, in game terms a a German HQ or pontoon unit OR a Red Army HQ in 1943 or later

so probably adding a super river+lake hex ;0 minus a few marsh hexes would be a good option, more correct and ok game balance wise.
I checked and that approach 'd be consistent with well researched scenarios of the area, such as 'Operation Neva' and GWITE2.
And BTW thanks for all the suggestions/typo corrections, I really appreciate the constructive support from the community.

Ukrainian here and
captured in the below events:

That's it. Thanks.

Great so let's go for this option. By the way, V9? or just an update of the current V8 plus all the little spelling mistakes that I have just completely review?

for a full version 9 I'd really like to see some HvH games go to the bitter end...but an upgrade after I collect feedback 'd be doable, say as a Xmas v8.1 edition

You are welcome. A small thing again regarding the Yellow Diamond in
Moscow that we can't see.

I have just figured out the correct order. You should change from this:

- Yellow Diamond 2.JPG (85.99 KiB) Viewed 1102 times
to this:

- Yellow Diamond 3.JPG (98.04 KiB) Viewed 1102 times
And, by the way, why not a Red Star for objectives on Russian territory?
EDIT: Perhaps the yellow diamond can be used for the cities of section 3.1 of your manual (Locations affecting Withdrawals, Supply, Replacements for AXIS units). And the red star could be used for the cities of section 4 of your manual (Industry Icon: hexes that affect Replacements rates i.e. locations affecting supply and replacements for Soviet forces).

Studying the map for our next game. I am seeing a railway going nowhere in
Pinsk. Perhaps normal?

A minor line was indeed existing from
Pinsk to
Gomel but for gameplay purpose maybe not to add.

Yeah for game purposes I only use the major railways, at this scale even the distinction between roads and minor railways is somewhat abstracted, the goal being emphasizing where supply
is easy/diffcult to bring forward. I used Soviet sources for the current layout (see some older posts). Will clean up the 'odd branch'!

Not a big deal but I have checked other sources and there were no major rails between
Baranowicze and
Sluzk like we can see above. I would propose to just put them damaged at the start of turn one. It won't change a lot the first turns for the Soviet anyway.

Here is the changes for the map in version 8.1 (sometime before Xmas, only minor changes and typos corrections planned)
Lake Peipus is bigger (map correction)
Tallinn becomes a limited suppy source for the Axis once captured (historical)
Terrain in the area is more representative (at least in game terms)
It should be easier for the Red Army to anchor the front at Pskov, but an Axis push through Narva will also be easier.
- minor railways going through the Pripet marshes replaced by more accurate minor 'roads' (map correction).
It will still be possible for the Red Army to push West through it in 1944... (a major logistical feat back then).
- Sloutsk is not a minor urban anymore, but left the location there for historical reasons

Yup, that was actually a little mistake

"Lake Ilmen is drained through a single outlet, the Volkhov, into Lake Ladoga, and subsequently via the Neva into the Gulf of Finland." (wikipedia)
Then for good measure I checked GWITE and DC Barbarossa...and with Google Earth. No waterway that "in game terms" would qualify as a river goes trough the Luga's railway to the sea.
I think overall, these small changes (also some retouches to the distribution of swamps and forests) give a better representation of the area. And I am also looking at the Tartu area...but I expect no major changes that will affect the overall campaign.
For the game: the larger lake areas shielding Pskov and the approach to Leningrad will likely balance out with Tallinn giving supply to an AGN push through Narva (make sure you repair that railway branch coming out of it!) and later in the campaign Tallinn will become a vital spot for both sides... as it was...

Great, I am doing kriegspiel right now to repeat my Barbarossa opening...
By the way, is there not a mod somewhere, that could be included directly in the scenario, to change the Front / Army Group HQs to display
XXXXX instead of
XXXX?
I know there is something like this but I can't find it anymore on the forum.
