Currently the zoom centres on the centre of the map not where you click. This is on the wish list already. Thanks
Cool! Thanks. [:)]

Mines and minefields are (presumably) not modelled in HTTR. Are there any plans to do so for forthcoming titles?

I add myself to the demand of minefields, even if it's not the first time I demand more features on the defensive workd department.

I wish there were a way to zoom while staying centered on the unit you're zooming in on. As is, I always seem to need to pan left or right when zooming in. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
In the RDOA demo the ALT key changes the cursor to a zoom icon, so you can left click to zoom in or right click to zoom out. I don't know if that works for HTTR though.

Ha, Intoxicated Man already said what I was about to say, I see [:)]
Indeed, ALT + left click (zoom in) or right click (zoom out) works, i.e. the zoom is done where your cursor was. It's not really perfect, but it indeed works [:)]
As for a wishlist, I don't know if this has already been said, but I'd like to see some more varied objectives. Ideas for now (but I'm sure others, much better, could be found) : have certain or all units escape the map at a more or less precise point, have to destroy one or several particular units, escorts (i.e. defend some units while they have to travel from one point to another), things like that.
Regards.

Hmm, I'm glad the alt-click works better than the mousewheel, but I still hope they fix the mousewheel. For me, it's a lot more natural to use the wheel to zoom in and out.

One wish and one story/wish. 1) Intel briefing at beginning of scenario of expected/suspected avenues of enemy approach/reinforcements (what was known or planned for historically).
2) In one scenario I beat up a mortar platoon down to about 5 or 6 guys. It routed and disappeared behind my lines. I didn't have the assets to chase it so I let it go. A few hours later it shows up next to my fire base and I get CLOBBERED by counterbattery fire. How are these guys still effective enough to call in arty fire? How do they even have a radio? And what if it had only been one guy? It still would have happened. What can be done about that?

Yes, the last surviving man of a unit acting as a FO can be bit irritating.
Besides grouping your arty into a fire base make sure you have a security perimeter established that deals with stray enemy units before the enemy can figure out what is beyond the perimeter.

Didn't feel like I had the luxury of extra units for firebase security. Besides it wasn't doctrine anyway. AT/AA platoons or companies had other better organic and historical missions than protecting my tubes from a nosy AI. And the point is - one straggler as FO is not at all realistic. Another wish: Ability to detach fireteams/squads/platoons (unit breakdowns). That way Arty units can provide their own security.

Unit Breakdowns
For instance, in Nijmegan historical early on you have all these objectives captured and NO extra units to garrison them with until day 3 (if then). Using an AT company or especially an AA company is a waste of precious assets. The Axis garrisons are usually about 18 men (a detatchment). We should be able to do the same. Maybe only give base units the ability to detatch garrisons or somesuch. But it is certainly not realistic to HAVE to use a full company if the tactical situation doesn't call for it. Or maybe assume friendlies are there and have last possession good enough instead of having to maintain a physical presence to get the VP's.

Don't know if it has already be mentionned.
It would be nice to have a method to put several units on map in the ScenMaker. Currently only one is selectable if I'm not wrong. I'd like to have a method to select multiple units and drag and drop them and/or select a HQ (with a modifier) and, go, all sub-units come on map.
A group placing function would also be nice : selecting all units and be able to assign them a position. Like in game.
JeF.

1) There needs to be a default screen resolution selection upon opening HTTR. I find it annoying to slect the resolution every time I open the darn thing.
2) How about a keyboard command to cycle through de facto "stacks" (very closely approximated units which are difficult to select using the muse pointer)

(1) Modify your short cut as such:
Target: E:\Games\HTTR\HTTR.exe /resolution 1024x768
(2) Each mouse click brings a different unit counter to the top.
---
I hope that helps.

Here's another for the wish list:
When you scroll the mouse button to zoom in, how about a level of zoom to go down to the squad leader perspective for a FPS! Sorry, lame joke.
Lifer
Not lame at all, this could be cool, he he but maybe asking alot.
Got my game today and its great, but somethings i like to see added.
1) Replay/save replay etc.
2) More engame statistic, overview, some sort of table of your forces to show loss, kills etc.
3) "Let me play a few more turns" like in civilization, let me play a few more hours/days, inf. I like the time preasure so the score ends when time runs out, but for the fun of it let us keep playing.
Alot of the other stuff i like to see have already been, written down, so i no need to comment.
Oh and im confused AA: Battle for the bulge is the third game comming out or is AA: crete and italy (forgot name) the third game and AA:BFTB number 4???

The first two were already on the wishlist but this is a cool idea that I haven't seen before [:)]

We are currently working on AA: Conquest of the Aegean, which covers Greece, Crete and Malta. After that we hope to put out Battles from the Bulge, which covers the Ardennes, and after that the plan is to put out a game covering Normandy 1944. After that we hope to turn East and do something with the Russians. As with all plans, these reflect our hopes and intentions, but obviously things can change at any time.

What about a modern era game using the AA, that would be so great. Shorten the order delay to reflect modern radios and adv. communication, bring in choppers to airlift troops, and give me MLRS to call in a blanket of death and havoc.
Not saying i won't enjoy a game about the east front and the battle for stalingrad, or a beach landing/air drop, over normandy
But guess ill have to stick with TacOps for sometime to come for my modern needs.

We are currently conducting negotiations with the Australian and US military with a view to producing a modern version of the game for them. It'll be great if it comes off.

Great news! Good luck with your negotiations. Military funding of computer games is providing us with good gaming.

I would like to see the ability for amphib assaults. I could be wrong, but COTA wouldn't feature any, but using those COTA estabs to create other scenarios makes me think about the low countries.
