If some Japanese player can get their carriers a little farther southeast and start intercepting a few large transport TF's comming into OZ, the allies may have a hard time of it.

Hit and run tactics looks like the way to go vs. trying to turn all the litle green dots red (in UV).

Good one Nik! I would not scuttle a thing. Ships repair rather fast and loads of Allied ports to weld patches anyway so why scuttle? Sucks loosing those Bathursts though, short on escorts at this time.

[X(] LOL and someone was complaining in another post about all that open water in the Southeast. Looks like the Allies are going to be taking some pleasure cruises taking the lllooooooonnnnnggggggg way around until those Japanese Cv's leave for Truk/Nagoya. [:(]

Question, are fuel reserves a major concern for the Japanese? I imagine the fuel expended on this little operation cut a deep hole into Japans fuel reserves. Or is fuel plentiful to the point ops like these can be planned on a regular basis? Historically this would probably have been forgone until the needed recourses were secured first.

dont quote me (away from source) but i believe Combined fleet had enough reserve fuel capacity for two years of operations.

Concern over the reserve was part of their reasoning for going to war after oil imports were completely cut off. They knew it would take time to begin the replenishment process

Caught completly by suprise the Aillies have suffered a major blow at Brisbane. More to follow as the facts become clear.

Which is why the Allies should always keep their carriers somewhere near the action. Right now, there are probably undefended tankers lazily steaming back to Northern bases, and a bunch of Japanese carriers that are going to run short of fuel if they don't sail north soon, not to speak of the fact that they are using up their ordinance...

If your carriers are anywhere west of Pearl - have fun! [:D]

maybe......I'll admit, as Allies, i've often sent two-three CV's to Oz to protect the lifeline....but if KB decides to come lurking in force....well a 2:1 disadvantage is something no Allied player wants to face so early in the game.

no complaints though......Players wanted the AWACS search ability taken out of the game....that wish has been granted.....its REALLY hard to spot TF's lurking far away from land now...and the danger is even worse when playing multi turn.....thats why "retirement allowed" is so much more important.

If your sitting in port......well you just saw what might happen. There's also the "UV factor" too.....in UV, Oz is often considered a fairly safe place to be, but the Oz of Winter, 42 is a far more scary place than one might be used too. Oz starts the game virtually defenseless....at least against something like KB.

I thought i was coming down with a cold.....symptoms include

-feelings of invincibility
- the sure knowledge that everything i say and do is right
- thoughts that i should begin to be loved by the general mass
- the conviction that Yankees are only good at cooking hot dogs, unless its at an AM/PM store.

-the uncontrollable urge to send taunting emails to Allied opponent. (particularily risky since that opponent is the test team manager and therefore one's BOSS)

- Looking at PI already as the world's biggest POW camp.


Is there a cure? Probably.....conduct a shock attack on Clarke Field ....... [X(]

Nik pulled off a beautiful move at Darwin. But why where there no torpedo hits from that many Kates?

each kate (or other torpedo plane) group has a % chance of rolling for torpedo attack when assaulting a port. Herr Frag has further theorized that altitude setting affects this % chance. I had my planes below 10K though

Was it worth it? To sink maybe a dozen? and wreck a dozen more transports you just gave away the location of KB. After two turns of fighting and ops no less.

Kid isn't upset - he's laughing as he knows where your cvs are at long last - and for a relatively cheap price. Every other spot on the map will be teaming with allied activity now they know they're safe int he short term.
