Who cares about War in the Med ?? I say World War II Baby.... in same scale (or smaller scale) than WitP... Would be my chance to rule either Japan or Germany to world dominance.... Would prefer Germany, since I'm 90% German.... But for now Japan will suffice...

I'm eagerly awaiting HOI2...and expecting the C.O.R.E. guys to make it better still.

I'm guessing that was incomprehensible to a lot of people!!

Edit: Look here for info!

Seeing as ya got an extra week to kill, how about fixing the night bombing issue? I noticed Mike Wood is still online and not pounding back the Lager and Tellerfleish.[;)]

OK, OK, I'll wait. Freeboy, stop using your Japanese F 117s![:D]

I don't know. Paradox is a good company and EU2 & VIC are excellent games. But the engine really doesn't handle 20th century wars very well. The air combat model especially has problems. I think the biggest problem (IMHO) is the province map system. It works for VIC and is perfect for EU2, but they just don't work for tactical bombing and armored spearheads.

(I also have issues with the direction they have been taking HOI in with the latest patches.)
This game does not have a learning curve. It has a learning cliff.

Any bugs I report are always straight stock games.

thay are on a game developer meeting in Düsseldorf like they had been in the past at the same events in the US... I know, for some US citizens, the world consists only of the USA and the rest is a BIG ? but not all are that .......*fill in your own word* [;)]

Spare us the Anti-American setreotypes, and we'll spare you the German stereotypes, okay? I'm Czech American, and my family was from Lidice. So, yes, I know the world consists of more then the USA.

Meanwhile, regarding HOI. I was very disappointed with that game. Was EU2 And Victoria better?

I loved EU I and II, but I believe they should have released II as a patch. Felt ripped off when I realized that it was not real different. Got HOI and quickly shelved it, tried the mods, back on the shelf. Another one of those situations where the company tries to stretch a design beyond its limits in blind pursuit of profit. I never pull that crap in my business. They peed off alot of customers who will not only stay quiet about it but won't give Paradox another chance. Considering how many people were vocal about their disgust with HOI, the silent majority may have been vast. Most companies can't afford to be so cavalier with their customer base as they tend to go tits up.

Wow, your family was from Lidice? Wasn't there a ferocious attrocity done to those poor people who lived there, after Heydrich was assasinated? I'm happy for them to have made it to the US.

Paradox games. That name should clue you in to their type of products. I did like EU2 though. The age of expansion has always been a favorite time in history for me. My Dutch ancestors settled in Manhatten circa 1650.

I really wish people would stop bashing paradox on these forums. [:-] It is simply bad form and it reflects badly on Matrix to allow it.

If anyone is interested in discussing these things, then come on over to the Paradox forums, or PM me. But if you insist on taking it in the Matrix forums, then I will have to respond here, and that will just lead to silly "who is your favourite developer" flamewars that benefits no-one. IMO Paradox, BFC and Matrix are the best gaming companies in the business, and they all have excellent customer support, and they all keep supporting their products way longer than any other company. All companies have had better and worse releases. And thats the end of that. To declare some blood feud against a company for a botched release is about as silly as it gets.

Think about it, if someone would have bought that horrible old Normandy game from Matrix a couple of years ago, and then going "OMG this game suck, I will never ever buy anything again from Matrix"...that person would not only have missed uv, but also witp.

Judge each game on its merits.

Ta. Looks to me like Combat Mission is, shall we say, "Graphically Intense" and about 2 levels lower than my normal interest. OTOH it seems to be pretty good at what it does!

(Actually, ISTR this in development, and had totally forgotten about it.)

After Steel Panthers that is.... [;)]

Have Beyond Overlord and Barbarossa. Havn't been able to allocate the funds yet for North Africa. Good games though harder than hell to play if you've been a SP head for 10 years or more.......
