February is almost over, but it continues to make it's presence felt.

We lost another member of The Greatest Generation this morning.  I have no URL link to a news story to post, as I don't think it has made any of the papers.

Paul Sorrentino, a veteran of the 29th Infantry Division and the D-Day landings, and my Poppy, moved on to the next stage of his journey this morning, after spending 91 years in this stage.  He was a character on this stage in every aspect of the word and he truly LIVED his 91 years.

I'm having a shot of the best rum in the world (a double as he would have wanted it [:D] ) in his honor, ironically at 1111 hours local.  If any of my Brothers get a chance sometime today, please drink to his service with me.

Poppy, we were lucky to have you in our lives and we will miss you!

RIP to your dad, Mike. Clearly his story was both a long one and a good one!

Thanks, witpqs. Long and good, indeed! He was my grandpa. I'm not quite old enough to have a 91 year old dad. [:D]

Condolescences, Mike. On a personal note, I know it's sad to lose a grandfather that one grows to respect and enjoy. As my older grandparents died off, I found somewhat mixed feelings. No, I never wanted to see them die. But I did think that the way they lived their lives was a great lesson for me as I aged. If only I can live my life to the fullest-as they did. A good guiding philosophy for life. Since we're all going to die, better enjoy the ride.

Here's to your grandfather. I hope he's somewhere BSing with my grandfather right now.

Sorta like someone kicked your reset button and now you need to figure out which partition to boot from. [:'(]
This is what happens when you derive life's lessons from circuitry and wires, you techmonger. [:D]

Oh, you're a young whipper-snapper! [:D]

Sorry - I latched on to "poppy" as the same as "pop". If my dad were still alive he would be closing in on 87, so it all made sense... [:)]

I'm currently preparing myself for unemployment. Its not easy. I have only ever been so for three weeks in my entire adult lifespan and of course, given the times....i'm very nervous. Two years of unsuccess at finding even a mediocre IT job hasn't boosted my confidence.

Sorry to harp on this but I really think you need to be looking here in the RTP area. I see jobs in the paper every day that you would at least have a shot at...and that's just the paper. Monster.com or trianglejobs.com have a lot more listings.

I think the martian is giving good advice. The Richmond, VA area would also be a good area to look. Lots of IT jobs and less competition.

One should not have to fix a reply to a non-log post.

We're having a totally crazy derby vs SkAIK. Scoring on all those chances we missed against your favourite team. Absolutely wonderful. [:D]
