Saw The Hobbit last night with my two sisters who were in town.

Highly recommended for those who like the series and for even those who dont.

For the first time in a long time I have several new movies I want to see. Hobbit is right up there. Also curious about that Django movie and the Bin Laden thing.

Zero Dark Thirty looks great.

A quick note to Yury,Simon and Martin....."What we have here is a failure to communicate". We don't all skype, or use messenger , and email doesn't seem to be reliable. Distances are way to much for smoke signals, so may I suggest we borrow a page from Faber and create a "Bob" type thread? Cause something here is broken. [:(]

Thank you there Symon, nice to meet you, and Mitchner's Caribbean sounds like a fine choice. But I do like paperbacks for the throne-room myself, as you tend to loose the use of your legs afterwards with hardcovers. [;)]

Hi Des. You know me already. Symon is me, JWE. And you are so right; time-on-the-throne is inversely proportional to lower-limb vascularization. But when the alternative is to have uncle John (or uncle Des) show your grand nieces how to dress the Barbie, a touch of stomach flu, requiring some private time behind the closed door, with a good book, is often worth the loss of feeling in your lower limbs.[8D]

Sorry but I quite like the new Emu avatar, it took me 4 days sweating over PaintNet to work-up. It is my new AFB avatar, I did it from a pic of crusty old Admiral Ernest King, and I think it looks like him. [:'(]

Also I've still got a hat for you old mate, so if you want to PM me an address. I'll ask Mrs DivePac to post it after the Christmas/new year madness settles down.

Hi Des. Since I'm darn near bald, the new hair-cut look helps hide it. Judicious use of toilet paper helps fill the cap out (sorta like a 12 year old stuffing her bra). Although I do like Sy'mons white beard. I could do one of those if I really tried. Known so many righteous sailors from the Islands like Sy'mon, that it seemed the perfect avatar.

Will send address for hat. Actually wore my Team New Zealand - Unmatched Excellence, shirt over the holidays. Always loved and feared you guys as sailors. That shirt I got from your All Black AC team, 10 years ago, i still treat like a piece of Chinese silk. Will treat a kiwi hat the same way.

Candles are on account of the giver. Recipients can scream, but can't escape their message to God from the sender. One corrupt old soldier to another, we've spent our time down here being righteous, so why not get a bit of grease on the steps in front of the Gates. You know what I mean. Lighting candles heats the surrounding air and wafts the prayers upwards. And they smell nice, and they look nice. So deal with it!
