Louisiana purchase is french. We are the spanish part right next to the louisiana purchase. Texas then won its independence from mexico in 1836 and joined the usa by a vote in 1845. rest of spanish territory was taken during the mexican american war.

BTW, there is one even longer version - it was the original TV series made for German TV - I watched it as a child - I think that one was full 6 (six!) hourls long...

I just love maps.

Question and Comment
Question: Didn't Spain breifly possess the Louisiana Purchase? I think France actually sold it to Spain, or traded it and the US bought it from them. Either that or it was the other way around.

Comment: I think France ended up with control over the interior of the country because they moved West through Canada and then followed the Mississippi down to the Gulf of Mexico.

From Wikipedia:
Several versions of the film and video releases have been made: The first version to be released was the theatrical 150-minute (2½-hour) cut, released to theatres in Germany in 1981, and in the United States in 1982. It was nominated for six Academy Awards (Cinematography, Directing, Film Editing, Sound, Sound Effects Editing, and Writing).

The movie was partly financed by the WDR and the SDR, and much more footage had been shot for the film than was shown in the theatrical version. In 1985, a TV miniseries of Das Boot was shown on German and Austrian television. Aired in three parts, it had a runtime of almost five hours.

Petersen then oversaw the editing of six hours of film, from which was distilled Das Boot: The Director's Cut, 209 minutes long (3 hours, 29 minutes), released in 1997, which combines the action sequences seen in the feature-length version with character-development scenes contained in the mini-series.

The uncut miniseries version, running 293 minutes (4 hours, 53 minutes), was finally released to DVD on June 1, 2004, as Das Boot: The Original Uncut Version. In addition to the "Director's Cut" DVD, a Superbit version, with fewer additional DVD features but a higher bit-rate (superior quality), has been released by Columbia Pictures.

The version I have is listed as approx 4hrs 42mins and is spread across 2 DVDs.

It is (according to the case anyway) the full 6 part series made into one extra long fan-dabby-dozy film [:D]

Yeah Spain was given/purchased the Louisiana territories. The napoleon bought them back from Spain wanting to fight the British in the new world but got bored with that idea or something and sold it to the us like 1 year later. In fact when Louis and Clark(the guys from the us sent to map the new territory) arrived at saint Louis in present day Missouri they were denied crossing by the Spanish governor who wasn't even aware that it had been sold back to the French.

i love spell check
