Exactly. And who'll be up to the shoulder in it when there's a paper jam? That'd be me.

MINE!
Cow with a calf jam, copier with a paper jam, it's messy work.

gotta love corporatese...the latest catch phrase floating around in SAP land is to "reach out" to associates in other departments and businesses to get buy-in or collaboration on tasks...what the frick is wrong with "communicate" or "contact" or "meet with"...grrrrrr!!!!...i guess people are too lazy to use the language we supposedly learned growing up...it's easier to just use some crap sounding jargon....[:@]

gaaaaahhhh...i need coffee...

Have you ever played Buzzword bingo?
Yes. Only we don't call it 'buzzword' bingo, but another perjorative term also starting with B, if you catch my drift. We print off cards with droll scientific hackneyed vernacular and bring them to conferences to help pass the time. $1 / card. [:D]

Well, it's recoilless, otherwise it'd be a real kick in the ass. [:'(]

ETA: I know, I know. The mammalian in the picture (other than the hominid) is a mule, not an ass. "Kick in the mule" just doesn't have the same ring to it though.

Who needs an APC for a mobile HQ unit? You've got AT capabilities, radio communications, 'flexible fuel vehicle' and offroad capabilities. Quite the find, Per. [:D]

Hey, they haven't evicted me from the state of Washington after twenty plus years of refusing coffee, so I can handle whatever you want to call me...[:'(]

We're not stashing anything. Both good beer and ugly girls (we know how you Swedes tick) are fully and openly available to you. We keep the REALLY good beer and the pretty girls for ourselves, obviously.

Wish to Thread you'd keep your ugly toes to yourself as well.

Convincing them that the Danes are a great threat to us both. That's why we need to reinstate the union. [:'(][:D]

Bah. That's a misdirection ploy if I ever saw one. You just want to take over Norway so you can stop lutefisk production. That's the real threat.

Threat? I'd say it would benefit the entire world.

I find Great Danes pretty intimidating.

Nah. My brother had one. It was a great, big dufus. I wonder f theres any correlation to the nation of Denmark in general. [:'(]

Of course iirc, the Great Dane was actually bred in Germany.

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Terminus

In other news, we got a new copier for the department today. The previous one was Paleolithic, but this one...[8D]

My immediate boss seems to be labouring under the misconception that it's hers, just because she went through the process of buying it.

Obviously, it's mine, since it was me who dropped a word to The Big Cheese about the need for one, long before The Junior Cheese even showed up.

Photocopy fetish? [8D]

Leo "Apollo11"

No, New Piece Of Machinery Fetish. You're in IT, you know what that's about...

one third thru "the girl who kicked the hornet's nest"...do swedes really drink that much coffee?
Yes.

The scandinavian countries are "world champions" when it comes to per capita coffee consumption. The Finns are first, Sweden second, Norway third and Denmark fourth.

Source: European Coffee Report 2009

ETA: Slightly different order (but older data) at Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_coffee_consumption_per_capita

ETA2: These quotes describes our coffee culture quite well; Comments taken from a review of one of Larssons' books where he asked the same question as you did KeM
"It is clear from this review that Kamp has never spent any time in Sweden or any other Scandinavian country. The coffee drinking in Scandinavian society is a normal social behavior, not the “overcaffeinated” condition Kamp describes. When Swedes get together for any occasion they will share a cup of coffee accompanied by a slice of cake. Coffee is served on almost all occasions, and Larsson is only depicting what is a cultural custom of the country. For this reason it seems incorrect to insinuate that Larsson’s early death was due to enormous coffee consumption. Swedes love their coffee."

... and ...

"As a Swede, I feel the need to address two misconceptions about Swedish culture in David Kamp’s otherwise excellent review of “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.” The characters’ constant coffee drinking is in no way unusual. Coffee is the beverage that accompanies a conversation. In American genre writing, a drink would take the place of coffee; in a British book, it would be tea. That said, Swedes do love their coffee, and plenty of it. Travelers beware: A surefire way to be irrevocably cast as a wimp is to ask for decaf."

What do y'all consider someone who doesn't drink coffee?

English? [:D]

Hey, don't be knocking lutefisk. Did you know that Minnesota is one of the world's greatest exporters of lutefisk? True. It was either sell it to the Norweigans or bury it in Yucca mountain.

Thanks for the heads-up. Filed as reason #557 to avoid Minnesota.
