Didn't know if you had heard this or not. As a Land Rover owner, I would be terrified too. Until the Range Rover came out, they were not something you drove fast on the road.

I once took spam on a backpacking trip. Everyone mocked me for carrying the extra weight but after a couple of days of rehydrated pablum, jerkey and onion soup with 3mm noodles, you need a drool bib when you start frying up Spam.
+1
I used to take my best friends kids on stargazing campouts and they refused bacon and demanded I bring spam to fry up for them.
There is something nostalgia invoking about the smell of spam frying outdoors

NEWS: ARGENTINE PRESIDENT MAKES DIPLOMATIC GAFFE, TWEETS ABOUT CHINESE 'LICE AND PETLOLEUM'
Argentine President Cristina Fernandez, on a tour of China to strengthen ties as the economy teeters on the brink of a recession, appeared to commit a diplomatic blunder on Wednesday by poking fun at how the Chinese speak.
Haha. What-ah dinosaur. Argentina-womans make stupid joke from 1940's about China-mens.

Have you considered brinksmanship? suggest that the two bundles of hundreds you happen to have with you would fund a wonderfully romantic eloping? otherwise the two bundles of hundreds will have to go to the MBA to hold the venue and no one will ever see them again...
the other option is trying the over-involved parent driving them to eloping- but that has a dangerous risk/reward curve.

Well, the first of 26 cousins (on my parents side) had this fantastic wedding in Sun Valley at a massive home on the Big Wood. Fantastic band, scotch and cigar bar, rivers of alkyhol.
I'm afraid the gauntlet has been thrown. She is the second cousin to "fall". The arms race is on.

You are entering an unmapped minefield, without the benefit of a mine detector.
Move carefully through that.
The arms race of the Cold War bankrupted one side (The Soviets) and created a lot of (political) dissent on the other side (United States).
The only factor that may work to your benefit is timing.
The cost of each wedding will likely escalate, in the effort to one-up to previous one.
Try to get "your" wedding in earlier rather than later, so as not to be caught in the ever increasing costs.
Either that or see if you can schedule "your" wedding immediately after the wedding your Cousin Eddie throws.
Even if yours does not match up to some of the prior weddings, it will look good in comparison with the most recent one. [;)]
