Gorki is a city with 2 defenders that can only be attacked from 2 hexes by Germany. Since it is in forrest ground strikes has less chance of success against Gorki.

It could have bee attacked by 4 hexes, with some attackers coming from the north...

As it is it looks like the Germans are going to reduce the pocket some... this has not turned out well for the Soviets at all, and if this was a longer campaign they'd be in it real deep with so much army sealed in around Moscow.

I believe there is a bug in the screenshot above. The attack is rated as 30:17
The german units have 60 factors attacking across the river (the red PzJag is doubled) so the attackers are summed up correctly.
But the russians are cheated of 2 factors, the 3 factor 85mm AA is not doubled even though the attackers include armoured units.
The russians should have 20 defence factors.

This is a bug that I fixed about a month ago. If ORM is using the current version of the program then I guess I didn't fix it.

I had to go back to an earlier version to continue this game. MWIF has been updated so much that this old Barbarossa game can't be played in the newest version.

Almost a complete failure for the German attacks...

1) Germany rolls a 9 on Yaroslav and with +5 on the attack Germany loss 3 units against 1 USSR unit.
2) +5 attack and the die roll is 12 so the Soviet forces are retreated and half of the attacking German units are disorganized.
3) Germany rolls a 4 on the +4 (+3.53 with a successful fractional odds die roll) in the south.Germany losses 1 Arm Div and one 1 Inf Corps as extra loss.
4) +21 gives an automatic successful attack.
5) On the +14 attack in forest Germany rolls 6 and takes an extra loss and it must be a 8-5 armor corps.

All in all USSR lost 2 Mil corps and 1 Inf corps against Germanys losses of 1 Inf div, 1 arm div, 3 Inf Corps and 1 Arm corps.

The turn ends to the dismay of the Soviet side who was eager to unleach a counter offensive against the disrupted German forces.

Germany wins the initiative for the last turn of the campaign.

But the weather turns bad and almost nothing at all happens.

The blizzard gets even worse. The blizzard even stretches into the Mediterranean now (a 10 rolled last impulse followed by a 9 modified to 11).

Just a few units got moved a hex or 2.

Germany and the Soviet union just moved a couple of more units during each of their impulses. After impulse 10 the Soviet Union rolled the end of the turn and of the campaign.

Here is a picture on the Murmansk front at the end of the campaign.

During the campaign the Finnish forces made 3 assaults on Murmansk and failed them all with small losses on both sides.

Just a quick question, how does Finland retake the Borderlands, and again make them part of Finland ?
You have to step on every hex ?

The USSR claims the Finnish border lands

If Finland allows the claim, it stays neutral and the Finnish border lands become part of the USSR for all purposes until the USSR controls no hex in the Finnish border lands (at which point the Finnish border lands again become part of Finland).

If Finland and the USSR come to peace, Finland again becomes a neutral minor country. The USSR keeps control of the Finnish border lands, exactly as if Finland had allowed a claim to them, provided there is a Soviet land unit anywhere in the border lands.

And a picture of the southern part of the front.

After taking Kiev the best of the German units on the southern front along with the Rundstedt HQ advanced toward Moscow. At the time it felt right to concentrate the forces on one front but this led to supply trouble for Germany on the southern front that became worse as the southern front expanded. Therefore there was little action on the southern front the last 3 turns.

Germany had planned to make an assault on Sevastapol and continue to advance over the straits but never got around to get an HQ this far south. Maybe Germany should have made a combined in one of the bad weather impulses to get sea supply here.
