Remember the rousing version of "Panzerlied" in Battle of the Bulge?
I can't sit through this movie long enough to hear it. Not one of my favourites.

Battle of the Bulge? The link is an example of what I used to hear until I did a bit of self-study on the German language (IE, this is what German can sometimes sound like to an uneducated American's ears):

I don't recall ever hearing a dugong figure so prominently in nationalistic music, Canoerebel. Thanks! [:D]

Ah, but it's not authentic frontier gibberish. For that, you need to revisit Blazing Saddles.

Oh, and don't forget, there are - not one, not two - but
SIX ways to use the equivalent of English "the". Depending on sex or plural or what-have-you.
Jeez, French only has three, even.

And let's not forget what Hollywood taught us: that if you were a British or American spy, it was not necessary to actually speak German.
English, spoken with a German accent, would do fine.
(Just like how you can see the Eiffel Tower from every single window in Paris. Or how bed sheets come up to a man's waist, but up to a woman's neck - at the same time.)

As a german, i can only suggest to watch "Die Hard" in english. All those actors performing as east-german people trying to speak german is quite funny, but i felt of my chair laughing when suddenly on of them spoke in a bavarian dialect. [:D]
