And FINALLY, Hong Kong fell. Now I need to chase off those Allied ships and sweep for mines.

San Fernando bit the dust. Next stop Bataan or something.

And Wake finally gave in. I'm thinking of using Wake as a sub base for operations around Pearl and the West Coast.

And as an added bonus, I captured Zamboanga.

For those of you who want to see the entire combat report I've posted it below:

It's not all that far from Wake to Midway and I-17 reports nobody home there and I've got most of the ships necessary to do the move of troops....maybe I should go for it. Anybody have an opinion?

I'd be surprised (shocked) if he has abandoned Midway. I wouldn't trust sub recon to accurately report troops. If you are going to load up for an invasion, send a cruiser ahead with a couple of scout planes, and recon -- or recon by bombardment before the invasion. With a reinforced Marine Defense Bn stationed there at game's start, Midway's a tougher nut to crack than Wake.

He has probably backed everybody off the beaches and is hiding in the trees. But if he started the game with a Bn there it's probably still there even now. I should have sent a sub that had a float plane aboard.

Good idea to recon by bombardment.....I'll do it. I'm not all that familiar with the sizes of units but I gather that a Bn is larger than what was at Wake. That's cool. Maybe I'll just watch from afar if that's what's there at Midway. I'm not all that interested in a protracted fight for the island right now since there's a ton of places that I need to grab closer to Australia still. I just thought that if it was abandoned that I could grab it on the cheap.
Thanks for your input

Here's the economic chart. Note how I'm going to run outta NavY points pretty soon. I'll have to un-accellerate a bunch of ships. MercY points are going to decrease as well.

Here's a weird twist of fate. Although Neither the BB nor the DD suffered any major damage they got the raw end of the stick in this contest as the Allied ships got away scott-free.

Bad news: Rob has at least one sub in the middle of one of my major shipping lanes.

And worse news is that Rob has a sub clogging the entrance to Saigon's port.

My Nate's tangled with Rob's token force at Iba. The main part of Rob's air force seems to be at Clark Field so this contest was nearly inconsequential.

I need to get some CAP into Singkawang pretty urgently. Either that or stop operating ships in that area.

Rob is demonstrating that his B-17's can reach some important oil refineries and I need to put some air cover there before he gets serious about damaging them. This is my one mea culpa: not following up on my invasions with base forces and CAP to protect what I've gained. Lesson learned.

I've got three groups of Nate's at Singora that can't reach anything so I'm planning on shipping them to Singkawang, Miri, and Brunei so as to make them useful.

Rob is keeping my ASW assets busy around the Kwajalein area. There's at least 4 subs operating there.

I moved a Mavis to Hollandia a turn ago and now, completely out of the blue, some Allied ships have popped up near Darwin. FOW is on and I understand that but one of them supposedly is a BB, which implies that at least one of the Allied carriers may or may not be there too. If true the landings south of Davao could be seriously threatened and serious damage could be incurred. I may be paranoid but I'm thinking I might ought to send the KB to this area to at least investigate what's really there and be proactive about it.
