Hyuga is safely at Pescadores, with 63% flooding. Thank goodness it was an Sboat.

Are you going to repair any of Miri's refineries? Or just the oil?

There are plenty of refineries in Japan... why waste supply ?

I think Andy handed them out like candy to the British, so I am sure you will get to see more of them. I wonder where Plato's air group is, or perhaps she isn't sunk? CB are still spotted in the convoy.

I just thought that I would ask. I seldom repair refineries unless the fuel is needed locally and shipping it in can be dangerous.

Jan 9, 1942

A quiet time in the war, with China sort of stabilized, and troops moving down Malaya. Big battles at Kuala Lampur on Malay and perhaps Manila are probably next.

The Allied forces on Luzon continue to take a pounding in ground combat, with every combat ending in a surrender.

Japan is resting their navy and air force as much as possible, but continue to inflict damage on Allied Air Forces, who have now lost 1022 planes to Japans 492.

Bought out our first Manchuko Division and it is headed for Malaya and Singapore.

The Dutch evacuated their defeated Manado garrison, and it was only interrupted by a small destroyer squadron (2 ships), but they were beat off by the light cruiser Ceres. Good job AI.

The Allied air forces are too aggressive, and I easily could have inflicted a lot more losses on them, but have held off, accepting a lot of bombing runs and countering only with land based AA.

The AI is also very vulnerable to Iboats, and I have had to pull them back and use them in strictly a perimeter scouting role as they would devastate merchant shipping. This will change as ASW improves, and even now an Iboat will get savaged by some 1945 ship design around the perimeter once in a while.

First oil tankers are headed to Miri, which now has oil at a whopping 10 pumps going.

I am only human, I make mistakes all the time. I doubt I have ever posted a graphic without at least one mistake in it. Sheesh.[:D]

Went back and fixed it for you.

I guess I shouldn't complain for people reading and correcting my AAR. Thanks.[&o]

The March to Malacca...a tank regiment rushes ahead of the main column and is promptly destroyed, and two days later the 11th Indian Division attempts to delay the march south and is promptly shattered....big fight shaping up at Malacca. 21 British, Indian and Commonwealth units there.

Air battles are very heavy here, the first Oscar Ic upgraded squadron has really been in a heavy fight here, along with a full size Zero squadron that was relocated from Luzon/Takao. They will be rotated back for rest and repair, local AA will be the only defense against the bombers -- mostly twin engine although there are quite a few fighter bombers that are doing a fair bit of damage.

Iboat success...this Q ship ate 3 torpedoes before finally sinking, taking with her 24 floatplanes.

A large American convoy seems headed to lightly held Wake Island. Carrier Division 5 and other forces are on the way to secure the forward base.

Rabaul is heavily defended, and Manus and Kavieng are IJN forward staging bases. The Guards Mixed Brigade was bought out and sent from Tokyo to help in taking the very key base.

In other news, the Plato was reported to have sunk off Toboali several days after being ambushed by the KB. Intel thinks she sank, but local commanders are less certain as there was no sign of destroyed planes.
