The three high level phases of getting this done
1 - Produce initial public beta - this would include everything that would be in the final release
(( we would expect to iterate on public beta releases for a while, to fix issues found during the beta period ))
2 - Go GOLD
(( once we think we are stable, we'll work with Matrix to prepare the final version for release ))
3 - Public Release
(( Once the final version is ready - Matrix will release to the pubic ))
So right now, we're working on step 1. Once you see that available, you'll know we're in the beta period for this release !!

I hate to be the one to ask (certainly NOT looking a gift horse in the mouth) but are we talking weeks or months before this remaster is released? Too early to say is a perfectly good response as well.
We haven't set an exact timeline, but it won't be this year.

Thanks Erik. I guess I can remain a bad boy because Santa won't be dropping the update before then

No, this is my game launch switch collection:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -cpu1 -multiaudio -dd_sw -fd -px1600 -py900 -deepColor -altFont -archive
Try the SeaBee program and see if it works better. Also look at the switches installed. You can then add or remove any to test and see if it improves.
Tried with Seabee:
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -SingleCpuStart -cpu1 -fd -pxf1920 -pyf1080 -deepColor -dd_sw -multiaudio -altFont -archive
At windows desktop 125% start failed, at 100% start ok
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -SingleCpuStart -cpu1 -fd -pxf1600 -pyf900 -deepColor -dd_sw -multiaudio -altFont -archive
At windows desktop 100% and 125% start ok
Doesn't "
-fd" mean "full screen, daily autosaves?" (As opposed "
-wd" which would be window/daily autosaves)
Also, wondering why nominate "-cpu1" (as opposed to say -cpu2).

That's great this is getting official treatment. In the immortal words of Elwood Blues: "We're putting the band back together."
Cheers,

that is so awesome. <3
My favorite "active" Matrix Games game, since you guys don't have SP up anymore.

Thanks for supporting it, if you guys made a sequel or wanted to kickstart i'd throw down a fair bit of change on it.

I would pay to have a similar printed manual to what WITE* have done.
Of all my matrix games, this is the one I'm actually always in the manual for.
I'd love to get things added to the manual that we have to learn through the forums and trial and error.
Apologies for the brevity, I'm just so overwhelmed with excitement.

I used this settings from many years ago. I saved them and when i reistall i simply paste from my save hd.
Yes fd is full screen daily autosaves.
-cpu1 (but could be -cpu2 -cpu3 or others depending how many cores has your processor) means do not use multicore but only a single core to run WitpAE because the game was not written for multicore use and performance could have been better if played in single core.
Never modified from the first time i used it.

In a thread long ago it was explained that -SingleCpuOrders is the switch that specifies use of a single core. CPU1 is always used by the operating system (Windows) and CPU2 is sometimes used by background programs like anti-virus. For those reasons the recommendation was to use -cpu3 or higher.

I had this explanation about performance switches:
Performance
specified CPU, otherwise both of these switches default to the first CPU. If a -cpu# switch and one of these -Single
switches are used, the turns will always be processed in multi processor mode.
-cpu# : (cpu1, cpu2, cpu3, cpu4) Switches set the cpu affinity for multi cpu systems. It will do nothing for single
cores and will default to using all cores if a core is designated which is not there (for example using -cpu3 on a dual
core system). We’ve found this to be very useful on some multi-core systems, especially Intel processors.
(Please note that the old –dual switch has been removed in favor of the below combination of more configurable
switches)
-SingleCpuStart : Starts the game in single CPU mode. Switches to multi CPU mode if available later. We’ve found
this to be useful on some multi-core systems, especially AMD processors.
-SingleCpuOrders : Starts the game in single CPU mode and stays in single CPU for the orders phase, switches to
multi CPU mode for running the turn, then switches back to single mode for the next orders phase. We’ve found
this to be useful on some multi-core systems, especially AMD processors. Use this or –SingleCpuStart, not both.
If used alone, the -cpu# switches will keep the game running on the CPU specified all the time. If used with the -
SingleCpuStart switch, it will only use that core when starting the game.
If used with the -SingleCpuOrders switch, it will stay in single CPU mode for starting and the orders phase, but will
run in multicore.
If one of the SingleCpu switches is used without a -cpu# switch, it will default to cpu 1 when it is in single core.

Yes, I know what -cpu does, but the recommendation was to go to cpu2 or cpu3 to have the benefit of that core's processing while cpu1 was handling all the background stuff.

Thank you for communicating with us. This is my favorite all time game. What I would surely pay for would be a disk or download that I could install on my system and it would configure itself to my system and see many of the mods as options selectable in the start up menu. Also include the newer map mods using the latest graphics and put out a revised manual that I could hold in my hands in bed at night while thinking strategy. That would be a definite buy for me. Again, thanks for the consideration and respect for our community and we are looking forward to what you come up with.

All brilliant news for which I am hugely grateful. I have just started another grand campaign as the old itch returned.
If we can somehow have tracker embedded that would be a huge assistance to those of us less technologically enabled. I know that you can play without tracker but Japan still remains an uncrossed frontier for me so any help is gratefully received
Not massively fussed on the map front in terms of image but would like the extended map option to be an easy click rather than multiple file overwrites etc. The same for stacking limits. I cant ever imagine playing without them in future
As I have already said, DBB for the database and flak please
But quite frankly just thank you for giving a bit of new love to an old classic

Thanks guys for the information regarding Alfred.
The responses were to say the least, educational, especially the picture of Michael Caine.

Please don't embed Tracker if it is going to force me to save in the same slot over and over again.
I use every save slot, only overwriting a prior save after having filled every slot.
Tracker is useless to me.
