company of counter-subversive struggle = recon?

I was also thinking that Russia must have a boatload of security/militia for their territory, but I have not come across any mention yet. We've always needed some sort of security against a Ukraine player making a foray over the border.

Rosgvardiya comes to mind, but not much on their structure in the Wiki article.

More like counter-recon, but probably kinda similar in structure, mobile unit on jeeps/trucks/something like HMMWV later (that may wary quite a lot from unit to unit) tasked with search and destroy of recon and sabotage enemy groups.

As for Russian homeland units - there would be quite a lot actually. Border guards, Rosgvardia (full name "National Guard of Russian Federation", a lot like Ukraine National Guard in a lot of ways, internal troops), units of Western Military District comprised of conscripts. I would do more digging on them later.

Hello Josant - May I ask your expert opinion on the Yugoslav M-84 MBT version that Croatia and Slovenia have? Do you think it should have it's own entry, or are the standard M-84 stats sufficient? The Wiki says this about it:

M-84A4 'Sniper' – This version includes the all-new SCS-84 day/night sight, DBR-84 ballistic computer and improved elevation and traverse sensors. These tanks have a different engine of German origin, rated at 1,100 hp instead of the 1,000 hp powerplant originally installed. A Racal communication suite also replaced the older communication set.

Hello sPzAbt653,

The standard version of the m-84 already has targeting++++, so the improvement in optics and sensors is useless.

Same for engine upgrade. The engine power and the weight of the tank are used to decide if the equipment is "agile equipment", if it is more than 20cv/ton it is "agile equipment", in this case both engines are more than 20cv/ton.

Maybe the only thing for it to have its own entry, would be the improvement of the anti-Tank ammo (the M84-A4 is more recent, from 2000s), the standard database rates the M-84 as AT:40, you can change it by AT:50 (like soviet 125mm latest rounds)

Is anyone else looking at some of the AVFs the west is sending, looking at their treads thinking "Where will you be strapping the log, or did you forget the lesson from last time..."

I do not see the scenario attached to the first post. Was it taken down for development?

This looks great too. Thanks for the hard work.

Testing indicates that SAM's do not shoot at range, but they do defend themselves and the hexes they are in. Therefore we made efforts that each unit includes some AA assets. It may also prove to be beneficial to place your dedicated AA Units to protect high value targets [for example airfields and bridges].

This looks a really interesting project.
I dont know if its any help, but I created new Orbats for Baltic Fury. I doubt the orbat will be any use, because I think you are working on battalion level and I was often working with Brigades and Regiments. But some of the new weapons might be useful. Feel free to use either if you wish.

Keep up the good work.

When you started this scenario who could have anticipated that Prigozhin’s Wagner Group would turn on the Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu?
After these events play out, it will be interesting to see how you incorporate the rebellion into the scenario. I don’t envy the amount of work you have ahead of you!
JB007 will have the same problem set with Ukraine on fire 2022.

Who knows what's really going on? Better wait for it all to play out.

Right now its just a One Day rebellion, so it might best be thought of as a one off "What if" in the history books.

Presently, we have no idea what will happen, now that Prigozhin is in Belorussa, and from what I read the rest of the Wagner Group is still fighting in Ukraine.

Don't know for sure but this may have just been a ruse by Putin and Prigozhin to booster Putin to make him look strong in light of all the setbacks and losses in the Ukraine by the Russian army.

Also both scenarios should have the Russian Army loose massive amounts of quality, morale and experience since at least since Jan 2023. The Russian Army now mostly consists of Conscripts, lead very very poorly.

This project is very interesting and a very juicy and very entertaining TOAW scenario can be achieved.
I am passing by to show you a source of information that could be very useful.
This guy (Jomini of the west) is dedicated to update the Ukrainian military situation with an extreme level of detail. I think it could be quite useful and interesting to define in a more realistic way the deployment of units and their respective strengths. As well as battles and their historical and realistic outcomes
He has this kind of analysis from the very beginning of the war.
