Here's the entire front lines in T71:

This is the Leningrad area as it is right now. I've used the Finns and some German units to build a rather stout MLR along the river east of the city and it's been holding the Soviets back for about six consequtive turns now. I've been bombarding those Soviets stacks that are orange or red and I've been getting sometimes 30% damage on them per attack and that's great. My losses have been much lower when the Soviets attack me with their arty. Most of the time I suffer less than 10% damage. Several times I've seen Soviet units evaporate during their attack. I'm fairly sure that they aren't going to break through in this area anytime soon.

This is the area between Smolensk and Bryansk as it is right now. I've been able to plug the huge gap there used to be in this AO and everybody is holding back the few Soviet units just fine. This MLR will stand for quite a while I do believe. The supply levels are excellent for once.

Looks like a good result from the winter offensive at last! If I judge right you're ahead of your historical counterpart in AGN and AGS and perhaps a little behind in AGC so overall in good shape. Are you starting to think about a Spring offensive?

I came out ahead of the game this time. The SWO wasn't all that bad and I've got 21.6K HRS's assigned so I'm getting my strength back and yes, I AM thinking about going on the offensive again. I didn't fall back all that far and I'm thinking that I may be able to do some pincer thing and get rid of a lot of these Soviet units. I realize that if I can just hold onto what I have for the rest of the game I can win but it seems like more fun if I can sweep the map of Soviet units instead.

Yeah, I think you have to take advantage of the high shock to do some real damage and to get some more strategic depth for subsequent Soviet offensives. I think you're right the first priority should be major encirclements of Soviet troops as you can't afford heavy attrition.

It's now T72 round 2 and this is the area between Smolensk and Bryansk as it is right now. I've had my arm twisted enough to convince me to go on the offensive again, although in a limited way. Since the Soviet units are so sparse I figure that I might be able to pick off several of these units before more Soviet units arrive to replace them. The Soviet units are moving in a westerly direction for the most part and they are coming at me a few at a time.

This is the area near Rostov and I've advanced a little bit and I think I may be able to clear out the AO in the next couple of turns. And then I can repair some bridges and continue on to the east and south.

It's now T73 round 1 and this is the area east of Kharkov and I've gained back all the terrain I had in this AO before the SWO started. The problem is that supply levels in this area are very low. It's down to 1 at the tip of the spear. I'll have to monitor the supply level to keep track of where there's no supply to be had. If I wander into those areas my units will be overextended and the pestilence penalty will increase, I do believe.

Here's the front lines early in T73 before the first combat round.

It's now T73 round 2 and I seem to have blown a hole in the Soviet lines up north. My plan is to see if I can't roll up the Soviet lines and kill a few every turn until they are gone. I've got 20.4 HRS's assigned and 479 HRS's on hand. All the rails up here are repaired all the way to the front lines which makes it handy to get the RR arty in close to the front lines so I can bombard their backfield to get rid of some of their arty. I've sunk all the Soviet naval units so now my Stukas are on CS duty.

It's now T73 round 6 and I'm gaining back all the territory that I had before the SWO began. But the supply levels are too low to continue the push.

It's now T74 round 1 and I'm approaching my old positions near Moscow. That's encouraging I must say. Doctor Brian in Ohio, my old WITP-AE opponent, tells me that there's going to be a new release of the WITP-AE game engine sometime in the next couple of weeks and I'll just have to check that out. So there may be a slowdown in postings for a while.

It's now March 14, 1942 and it looks like warmer weather is coming in the north and around Moscow but down south it looks like a late winter. So for the most part, it looks like Spring is arriving slowly. That means the ground will thaw out and we'll be axel deep in mud again for a while. So from T82 until T89 I can expect a mud season. For the most part, I've gotten my units back to the places they were in just before the SWO started and I can give my units a much needed rest throughout the mud season to have a much better ground force for the Spring offensive, which will start sometime after the mud season is over. Contingent on whether or not supply will allow continuous ops.

Here's what's going on around Moscow right now. I've successfully surrounded a small Soviet group and I'm in the process of trying to digest another small group and there's a small pushing match going on around the city of Vyazma. Also, I've just now captured an intact crossing over the major river toward the south of this image. I'm hope-ing that I can stream some units across that thing and grab a foothold on the east side of the river sometime soon. That will enable me to help uncover more river crossings which will enable more of my units to cross to the east side of the river which will allow even more river crossings to be uncovered which will allow.... You get the picture.

It's now T74 round 2 and I've got a task force headed for Stalingrad....a task force that includes engineers to repair any broken bridges on the way and some LCU's for local security. The Italian infantry division is sitting on a hex that has only 2 for supply which means that it'll be zero or close to zero in Surovikino just across the river from where they are right now.

It's now T74 round 5 and this is the area near Tula and I'm approaching the positions near those I had just before the SWO started. The supply levels are very low at the tip of the spear but I've got repaired rail getting closer every turn. The Corps HQ units are coming in really handy in this area. I wish there were a way to extract their organic arty into a unit of it's own that I could move differently from the HQ unit. That way I could have the HQ unit repair the rail and at the same time move the arty contingent to better positions to support the fighting at the front.

In an effort to accellerate the progress of the push in the south I'm trying to get some bridges repaired prior to the time I arrive with the Axis land forces moving east, knowing that the Soviets could arrive with a huge stack of LCU's any turn now. Although my follow-on troops will arrive on-site within a turn or two from now. My plan is to expand into the pocket that the main rivers form here with Stalingrad as the next immediate goal. I have 20.3K HRS's assigned, down from 20.9K earlier in this turn. I'm losing HRS's too fast for comfort. Perhaps I should slow down a bit.

It's now T74 round 8 and this is what's going on around Leningrad right now. I'm in the process of surrounding a small group of Soviet units and I'm so serious about it that I've committed three seperate Panzer divisions to help make it happen. The rails are repaired up to the front line for the most part so supply isn't so much of a handicap so far.

It's now T75 round 2 and this is what's going on around Voroshilovgrad right now. I'm in the process of pushing toward the major river(s) because that will allow me to hold back a lot of Soviet units mearly by holding the river crossing. Allowing the rest of the units to push east toward Stalingrad.
