We had 2 big top sirloin steaks with nice cajun blacked dry rub on Friday. Saturday night we had a Hungarian goulash that my wife made in the crock pot. Made the house smell great all day and is always delicious.
Sounds wonderful.
I am wondering if I should try making some goulash myself. Need to check up on a recipe, or two.

Think of home made French Onion bread, thickly sliced, and placed on the grill for Texas toast to go with that steak. Or even make home made buns out of the dough the next time that you grill hamburgers . . .

That is almost mean. Now I can not get it out of my hungry mind.

Just make home made bread but put in a package of dry French Onion Soup mix. Also, you can add more onions which I did last time which really helped the flavor but the recipe for the bread makes two loaves. I added three teaspoons of Minced Onion and 3/4 of a teaspoon of onion powder. I used teaspoons measuring utensils (I don't know the equivalent in metric) but the table spoon (which is three teaspoons anyway) measuring spoon did not fit into the container. I suggest that the top of the bread be scored lengthwise so it can be a "split top" loaf.
Think how terrible that bread would be sliced, toasted, and kept warm, placing at a minimum of onions grilled in butter possibly with multicolored peppers and/or mushrooms as well, then a swiss or a provolone or a similar cheese on top, then shoved under the broiler for the cheese to melt. Then cut into quarters to serve as canapes.
