Prior to their intercession / intervention, upwards of 50% of cows would have air added to their udders to 'puff them up' and make them look more engorged (and by extension, more productive).
So, my belizarded friend, even the pictured species you've provided is beset with 'fake ones'.
Are there any studies on how that practice affects the cow's self esteem?

No need to study. They start groaning and bellowing because it is painful and they can't milk themselves. The bellowing translates to "Get your ass over here and milk me, STAT".

Well, no. But for starters, they don't like being referred to as 'cows'. Too unseemly and common. "

Just took a little video of a Cooper's Hawk feeding on something in my backyard. A dove I think. I'll investigate later, she's still at it.

Was going to ask that since coloring is the same for this species. The male is smaller, slender than the female who is bigger, bulkier.

I can't really. I'd need to know the age. Then I'd have to measure. Now with the 4x4 (3.5") I can sorta extrapolate the size. Females are substantially larger than males. She's big. That's how.
