I had an Italian toaster for about twenty years, wonderful thing it was to and never burnt a piece bread once. I now have a Chinese one, and it burns by toast all the time. But I must admit that my Chinese toaster is very wise and does talk to me in the mornings, whereas my Italian one never said a word. [;)]

That's because anything built in Italy usually breaks as soon as you try and use it. Unless it is built by Ferrari, which is unlikely in the case of a toaster.

From the Unfortunate Ship Names section:

Ugh. Buying secondhand Puke from the Italians? Who'd have thought there would be a market for that?

Some people will buy anything if you tell them it's made in Italy. I blame reality TV and Jersey Shore. Not sure if there's a connection, but there's never a bad reason to blame Jersey Shore for something.

Funny thing with HMS Puke, is that the old meaning of "Puke" in Swedish is "Little devil". Don't know if that would've been better.

A little elderly design at the beginning of WW2. Otherwise, a good looking ship.

Speaking of name fails ... I remember in the beginning of the 80's when Honda was going to introduce one of their new models in Sweden under the name "Honda Fitta".

The equivalent in English would be naming the car "Honda Pu$$y"

The car was named "Jazz" instead. [:D]

Ahhh... Satisfying day when you can coordinate some Kamakazis, land DBs with escorts and 800kg bombs, and several fleet carriers on an allied marshaling point and get away with 4-6 CVEs sunk for no losses on your part in late January 1945!

Where is that Snoopy dancing gif...

I hate it when that happens, you're winning and get a bit up yourself. Then your opponent gives you a kick in the pants, out of nowhere. [:D]

In Switzerland I noticed that the francophones will not even acknowledge you unless you try to make at least a token introduction in French. Maybe Italian toasters work in a similar way. [&:]

Could be.
Something very similar happened like that two years ago. I was shoveling snow off the roof. I was up at the peak near the chimney when I began to follow the snow down. Dropped about 12' into the snow pile I had had just cleared off the roof. No harm done (not including dignity[;)]). I had to go back up because the shovel stayed up there. I was hoping a neighbor had filmed the incident for funniest home videos and some easy cash.

Nope it was another case of Murphy's Law: The stupidity of any action is measured by the number of people who see it happen.

After that into the house for a quick stiff shot of Black Velvet.[:)] Dignity begins the healing process.[;)]

Again I proved my signature.[8D]
