I'm making moves towards an eastern rush. I'm mostly pulling troops from the eastern flank to do this, while keeping enough to tie up what he has around Ranchi and still protect Patna and Benares. My guys at Cuttack, I'm moving east, hoping to cleanly sneak between Calcutta and Jamshedpur. I think I have a gap I can push through. With the rest, I may just re-orient into a line north of Ranchi to block. If he makes a move towards either of these two cities, I'll be smacking him with bombers on open ground. I've pulled a bunch more bombers from Ceylon onto India proper at Tanjore, which is level 9 with lots of support, unoccupied by any planes. I'll have to check my pools. Maybe I can start converting B-24 squadrons in India to Superfortresses.

I'm spreading troops out from Pearl to the rest of Hawaii, grouped by objective. I'm also pulling the forces at Niue out and sending them to Christmas Island. Them and the aircraft there. Speaking of, another two squadrons of B-29s showed up in the States. I think I'm up to 6 or 7 now of the 10 plane squadrons. I'm routing them to Portland Roads, via Christmas Island. I'm overstacked with planes at Pearl, so I don't want to hinder any repair work. I seem pretty short overall on people moving ships, and I've been borrowing some to make moves. Some are going to the states to retrieve a new infantry division which showed up in the last week.

Mostly building lately. I've been killing supply at Pearl badly, so I'm rushing more there.

Sweeps in India mostly. I'm unsure how well I'll be able to attrit his air there. I'm averaging about 3-1 on him in losses. One particular Jug sweep at Howrah bagged 12 planes for no losses. Up north, I'm putting together a sizable sweeping force for the east under Wingate. Probably be a week until I assemble everyone. We'll see if I kick over the ant nest doing this. I'm resting and healing bombers before kicking this off.

Cocanada got bombarded from my surface forces based out of Madras. Another King George V BB will be joining them soon.

It used to be if you didn't update daily you'd be on page two, so we should be happy if the activity is up! [:)]

About attriting the Japanese air, remember that he has to use supply to replenish all of those losses. At 3:1 you're making him pay a stiff price, plus gaining VPs at a good rate.

About the Marianas, if he doesn't have two division equivalents on each I'd be surprised. Can't remember their SL offhand, but aim to get everything you can on there including tanks and good arty. It'll take a while.

Lots of those too. If I remember right, the people capacity is like 190, so it takes a lot.

I honestly don't even use LCIs or LSTs for invasions. I almost exclusively use them to ship engineering units to bases immediately upon taking them. Given how small these landing craft, they are quite optimal for moving engineers from one small front line base to another. And I also use groups of LSTs to drop off supply for front line bases loaded up at local supply depots. And occasionally LCTs and LCIs to carry those damned unit fragments that don't get initially loaded. But APAs, AKAs, and AKs carry the brunt of amphibious invasion load.

Only a token CAP at Howrah/Calcutta this turn. Normally I'd unload the bombers on the airfield right after this, but I'm wary of KS just luring me into such an action. If this keeps up, I'll strike both airfields.

Da Monkey shows a division getting moved piecemeal to Rabaul. He must figure I'll try grabbing that next.

My Saipan invaders are relocating to Lihue, NW of Pearl. Trying to get stacking under control. This will let me organize a bit better, too. I'm hoping to get lots of air bases and air HQs from Pago over to Christmas Island to follow up with the next landings. So many parts to orchestrate. CVEs will no longer be stuck in the amphib TFs themselves, as they have a habit of bombarding the beaches.

APAs will unload all their troop cargo in a single day if they have all unload phases.

I like watching the bombers on Makin doing their own thing on auto-setting. Usually they hit Majuro, but when it's clouded over there, they make a beeline for Jaluit. 160+ casualties there today.

At 51,32, west of Ranchi, my gamble on a follow-on attack paid off. My exploratory attack showed that disruption was an issue there. This turn I followed up with a massive bombing campaing and put a bunch of casualties on them from the air. Too many to list here, so I'll get to the ground part.

I think I've mentioned this before but what is your endgame in India? It's getting into the final stretch of 1944. KenchiSulla I'm sure is more than happy be fighting a ground war in India/Burma through the beginning of 1945. With China firmly in Japanese hands I do not see this theatre significantly affecting the outcome of the war. Perhaps it is time to start thinking of where to send those LCUs once their next objectives have been captured. Especially because I know many important US LCUs were brought over there earlier.

I guess my endgame is simply to try and disrupt things there. Overall, I do regard it as a sideshow. I have next to no US troops there, as they got wiped out during my Calcutta invasion attempt. (and since respawned). I have three LRP brigades in the hex between Howrah and Jamshedpur, heading east, so hopefully I'm cutting off supply in the process. The guys east of Ranchi are moving SE also, hopefully to combine with the LRP guys. I could probably move down the coast from there.

I really can't relocate any troops out of India, as much as I'd like, due to an overall shortage of people transporters. My Marianas invasion will pretty much tax what I have there.

A couple more LCIs show up at Portland, destined for Pearl. Ships at Pearl are repairing, and I'm unloading supply and fuel there. I'll try to overstock some supply at the overstack bases in these islands, so I can take a bunch along when I start the invasion.

Real air base and air HQ units are at Christmas from Niue. Those ships are going back to empty another island. I want a base up and running quickly after it's taken.

Bombers from Delhi are hitting the airfield there next turn. Hopefully all the sweeps happen before that. I'm hopeful it will, with the distances involved.

I've had a bunch of transports at Bezwada carrying supply to Cuttack for the last few weeks nonstop. I've now re-located them to Bombay to get more bombers closer to the front. B-25s and B-24s are moved in, to help pummel the SW hex to Ranchi. Some B-24s are inactive, as I missed them before and flipped them to the J model.

Hancock arrives at Panama, now enroute by herself to Pearl. I haven't fretted escorts too much as KS has had nothing of a submarine campaign on the eastern half of the map. Once she's on-map, I'll probably route a couple destroyers to shepherd her in. She arrived with the dash-5 Hellcat, but about four short, and Balboa doesn't have enough supply to stock her up.

B-29s at Portland Roads haven't flown in three days, probably due to weather. They're set to hit Rabaul, when they get to it.

This turn, I get my land attack off at 51,33, west of Ranchi. I pounded the crap out of these troops from the air beforehand, probably inflicting over 500 casualties from that alone. The fight became more of a mop-up operation.

As a result, the entire western half of Ranchi is now cleared of Japanese. All my troops east and SW of there are moving eastwards, with Rajshashi the target. Some troops are next to there now and it looks unoccupied. My final goal is Dacca, which has a level 4 airfield. I'd like to get a good base set up and running there, which will further turn the screws on at Calcutta. Beforehand, I'll need to re-take Rangpur, to get the rail network cleared for that. Some fast moving armor should handle that. In the hex NE of Ranchi, I'm attacking again as it shows only about 4,000 Japanese troops there. He may be trying to pull back.

Ranchi had been pounded for a few days. KS had a bunch of fighters flying over there. It looks like he pulled out before the bombers showed, however, but the airbase there is truly dead now. Inching more bomber units closer has helped me here. I'm also doing some re-org work on my fighters, upgrading many of the D2 Thunderbold squadrons -- some to D25s and one to Mustangs. Any remaining D2s are training for ground attack, as I'll make that their primary mission. I'm accruing lots of aces in the area with planty of double aces. I think the top guy is at 14 right now.

Calcutta's got about 300 fighters present, with another 35 at Jessore.

Intel's been completely mum regarding KB. Seems unusual, as in most other games, I get some tidbit or another on them. At this point, I can probably lick them on a full head to head matchup.

A bunch of units reach Rajshashi and will claim it next turn. I sent a regiment of Humbers north to Rangpur to grab that rail hub. Once Dacca falls, I can simply rail the base units in.

Ranchi seems to be his Rourke's Drift/Little Bighorn spot to fall back to. He seems to have a very defensive stance there right now, which is good. I was worried about him making a push north towards my close bases. My airpower, I think, is going to eventually push the war in India my way.

Might I suggest a couple of bombardment attacks to soften up the defenders?
