It's not all that great of a G.I. bill anymore. It's been scaled way back. Yeah, it would help. But I saved up to pay his whole ride. So money is not a big object (although I have never told him that. I want him to earn it, then pay for it).

I believe I have a seriously negative view of what he intends, just from my history. Plus, he is focused on the teams. And I do mean focused. Up at 5am every morning for a 5 mile run. Of to a private gym for some serious workouts 3 nights a week. Scuba. Mental & physical acuity training with some Marine recruiters. And to go through all of this just to have a chance at something that I truly think he is doing just because it's so damned hard by design...and then even IF he gets there all the crap he will go through. No sane dad would want that for their boy [:-][:(]

I hear you, Lecivius. But doesn't he-at some level-want it? Why else would he be going through all the insane-o work if he didn't? At what point do you as a dad take a step back and let him be accountable for his actions and attitude and let him decide for himself?

I'm not questioning your parenting-far from it, mate. I just want to know the formula for when mine (11 and 8) get to that age.
