Well. that sound like a fully tracked vehicle with a rotating turret with a main weapon of 76mm that is a gun that is a larger caliber than a 75mm/38" with a bow machine gun, a coaxial machine gun or two, along with at least one machine gun on top. So it is not a M1 family tank, it could be a Sherman with the 76mm/52" gun such as the M4A4E8, but your avatar picture is a T-34 76C so I would go with that one.

Almost! Look a little closer at my avatar, itโ€™s a play on my heritage, hint American made but father born in Russia.

I went with the T-34C because of the color since American unit counters are green. I only played the first Squad Leader and looked at Cross of Iron but I did not go past that. So with a Russian tank but American made, then it would probably be a diesel powered M4A2 with the longer gun. Some of the Soviet tankers who were in both the T-34 and the US made M4 preferred the M4.

Bingo!

ASL calls them:

M4A2/76(w)

M4/76(a): The Russians used more Shermans than any other Lend-Lease tank during the last two years of the war. Shipments of the M4A2/76(w) (which was the only 76mm version given to the Soviets) began in May 1944, and ultimately 2,095 were sent. Some tank and mechanized corps were entirely equipped with Shermans; the 1st Guards Mechanized Corps in 1945 was one such. The M4/76 may have a functioning gyrostabilizer (D11.1), and is also equipped with a 2in. smoke mortar (sM8; D13). The โ€œ(a)โ€ in the piece name stands for American, for ESB purposes. Note that the M4/76 uses black To Hit numbers and U.S. AP/APCR TK#s.

I was a early ASL convert, played it from 1985-2014. Retired from board war games in 2014 and switched to PC war games.

I played a number of game systems, but I think that my all time favorite was Panzer Leader. Bought enough of the games to form up division size forces and made a 4'x8' map....GP
