Solomons - Task Force 31 sails for Bougainville, having taken aboard in the Central Solomons
the 20000 odd men of the I Amphibious Corps of the US Marines, made up of the 37th Infantry Division
and 3rd Marine Division, under the command of General Alexander Vandergrift. The Americans are well aware
that they are outnumbered, but rely on support by their powerful navy and air force, which in the course
of the last weeks has put every enemy airfield in the south of Bougainville out of action.

Air Combat
Put a Daitai of mostly green A6M2 Zeros over New Guinea: lost 11 to Thunderbolts
and shot down a P-38 + a bomber.
The remaining B-25's in China wipe themselves out!
