I have brought seven rifle divisions by rail to help in the north. And I think it's still not enough! [8D]

On turn 1 the Axis mobile units have perhaps 50 MPs; once they start outrunning railheads it's down to about 30-35 at times but can be increased by air suppying. You may want to check for that on the battles screen.

It's turn 13: 11 september 1941, Carnage. I guess I will write the date and turn number on the corner of every screenshot, just like you do on your AAR [8D]
The "battles screen", Randall? Ok, thank you [&o]

I notice many Axis players fail to support AGN with more infantry reserves to protect their supply lines and extended flanks.

I think your right to some extent. But it really is a fine balance between AGN and AGS. Both lack the proper amount of I.D.'s that they need. I think most Axis players focus on getting more replacements down south for winter than they do up north. At least in the north you have better defensive terrain. Rob Peter to pay Paul situation.

Hmm, I haven't seen yet a "suicide" advance in the AGN area like the one made by my opponent (so I'm a lucky Soviet player or the other Soviet players are unlucky) [X(]
I guess that the same can be said about the Soviets. As Randall said, I guess we tend to retreat towards Leningrad (Northwest) and Moscow (Western). This leaves a more or less empty space in between: Velikie Luki, north of Smolensk area and south of Lake Ilmen. In my case, I think my opponent wanted to exploit this gap. The execution was plainly wrong though [8D]

The Valdai hills ( the roughs ) and swamps to the west of them ( north of Velikie Luki ) are a problem for both sides. There's no rail line right up to them so the Soviet player cannot simply move units and plop them in two turns, and the rivers to the west slow down the advancing Axis.

Turn 14

18 september 1941
Well, Sire Chaos finally sent the turn. As expected, in the Northwest his AGN had to use its firefighter brigade. Well, not really expecting that. I thought he would be bringing reinforcements to help in the north. But he didn't (already used the recon planes) [&:] Therefore I will be obviously cutting off his units again, since he apparently likes it [:D] And I will possibly be bringing more STAVKA reserves...

Near Velikie Luki he is trying to form a pocket. I doubt it is going to work though... Events just a few miles to the north should scare him to death [8D] But if he wants to play with fire, ok... I still want these AGN Panzers!

Is he flying in supply for the cut off units?

Well, I should not sell the skin till I have caught the bear. Oops! I am the bear here [:D]

Randall, this should be seen when I click F11 (battle mode)? If yes, then nope, his transport planes haven't delivered anything to his isolated AGN units [8D]
Anyway, in the center aka around Smolensk, looks like I wasn't a kamikaze after all [:)] My forces STILL resist! [8D] He launched three attacks, one of them was repulsed [8D] I hope Abulbulian is not watching these results or he'll have a heart attack. His beloved German Panzer units took some casualties (and clear hexes) ho ho ho [:D]

His most dangerous panzer units south of Bryansk will possibly be busy devouring 5 rifle divisions. Good job and good appetite. In front of them my units near Orel are getting strong [8D]

In the Southwest he's concentrated his AGS Panzers. I will have to be careful here. He is planning a massacre, this is pretty obvious

In the South basically no changes at all, but OUCH!! --that has to hurt-- we have The Odessa Chainsaw Massacre Part 3. Humm, but this time his engineers managed to reduce the fortifications to level 3, so... [8D]

Yes, this is what the F11 key is for; any air resupply he does should appear with a parachute inside the circle.

Poor Axis. 1/2 a million Russians captured pretty much tells the tale.
IF he gives it a shot in the south, better bet is going north. Seems to be fewer troops there and he can help himself to some nice HQs and airfields along the way, but his execution needs to be better than it has been or I have a feeling you are going to crush his panzers when mud hits in a couple of turns.
Does the Stavka have a pool on where the first Guards unit will pop? I might be tempted to toss down a few rubles on the guys in Odessa. [:D]

Well, we resume Operation
Hey Boo Boo, let's go get us a pic-a-nic basket!
I think I am going to bring minimum 20 divisions from the STAVKA reserves and other fronts

Among them, let's say 8 cavalry divisions. I would like to create a big mess on his rear: past Pskov, then towards Riga perhaps... IF he doesn't protect his rear I will be doing that. Why not? [8D] My main objective is still the destruction of his AGN Panzers though.
I have like 10 rifle divisions digging around Moscow since turn 2 or 3. I should bring them too: that would make between 20 and 30 divisions. Let's see if it can be done. Maybe I will have to weaken the other fronts but the destruction of his panzers should be priority number ONE now...
The good thing is that even if this operation does not work I could be forcing him (in theory) to weaken HIS other fronts. Maybe he will need to bring reinforcements from the AGC or AGS...
