Burma - I developed all those bases in Assam to max and still didn't get supplies to flow into central Burma bases (did OK outside of them). It wasn't until I got Ramree Island and was able to push out from there to get supplies to flow. IMO, I would focus on pushing down the coast to Aykab and then going inland from there along with an invasion of Ramree. In slightly less than two months, Burma has changed significantly since landing there.

I have found a huge difference between BigBabes and stock in regards to moving supplies within India. My uneducated observations and experience are that in the stock game there is a plethora of supplies that continue to propagate as long as airfield levels are built up that increase the number of supplies per pulse. This increases with continued supplies running into Karachi ...In BigBabes India starts out hungry for supplies and factories do not produce the plethora of stock .. in addition, the IJ can cutoff India producing a dearth with very little propagating ..

So the strategy might be different depending on the game modifications ...

Agree. It's a completely different story with DBB. The supply situation is far from being decent in Assam-Burma for the allies

I think i'll keep on doing what i was doing before the tragedy. Work on multiple vectors.

Will now need to develop North western Oz... but, first of all, i need some decent logistic preparation. With reduced cargos, it's pretty hard to get enough supplies and fuel to Oz

This is a learning opportunity about how to operate without CVs, though. You can certainly still win, and can get good experience advancing under LBA while awaiting the Essex horde.

August 29, 1942

The allies are slowly gaining back their spirit.

In Burma, the Americans have succesfully occupied Cock's Bazar and Akyab and are now trying to make the supplies flow there (which seems to be impossible!).
But Assam bases are building just fine. When the monsoon season will be over, i think the supply problem in Assam will be over too and we'll be able to start building Kalemyo and Akyab.

Intelligence reports several Jap bought-out divisions already positioned at Palembang, Davao, Kei-Enlanded, Guam, Saipan, Truk and Rabaul. He is clearly guarding and building his inner defensive perimeter.

The first big convoy full of enginners of every type has reached Oz. Now it's time to make fuel and supplies get there too.

Things have slowed down a lot. The Japs are bombing daily Horn Island, both by air and by sea (using 4 BBs for this mission!) and I don't have anything at hand to counter...I simply have to sit and see my units get bombed to dust...:-/

In the rest of the map we're trying to redeploy our forces and undergoing to all those upgrades that need to be take between august and October (pretty a lot!)

In China things look ugly. Supply is gone almost everywhere and the constant bombing is causing more than 1000 casualities everyday! My front won't hold much longer...

In Burma we're still building our bases in Assam, hoping to make some supplies flow, while we're setting up the invasion of Cylon, where still 50,000 Japanese are present, along with a huge air army.

Sept 9-19, 1943

The usual naval and aerial bombings on an, now isolated, Horn Isl. Think he will invade soon. No supply left and no way to bring any relief

Raiders appeared near Johnston Island and west of Perth.

In Burma, after 2 weeks of harsh air battles, the allied had to leave the airspace over Ledo to the japanese. Tojos did a great job in reducing my CAP untill the point i had to abbandon the Whole area. Helens followed and smashed the fields.

At Cochin (Western India) we managed to ambush 30 Nells who went unescorted from Colombo against 4 DDs... 30 Nells gone[:'(]

Yet the allies are too weak everywhere to counterattack at the moment. Without my pacific fleet (sunk recently) i have to face the dilemma of being without any naval cover for any possible operation.

The Indian fleet (4 CVs+1 CVL) is on the move tough.... and in Burma we got all the starting positions we wanted to (Akyab and Kalemyo)..

In China we're still holding...butsupply remains an unsolved problem...so we will probably collapse anytime soon

I hope the year (1943) is a typo, and not a time warp leaving the Allies a year less to turn the game around!

sept 20-27, 1942

Just like my game with Brad, this game has slowed down a lot during august...

After the defeat of Horn Island, the allies had to abbandon every chance of an early offensive and are still licking their wounds. We had to find cover and keep the build-up of our logistic... pretty borning at the moment.

In China we lost the battle for Sian. On the high road the lack of supplies got the better of us... after several months of harsh fighting, we've been pushed back and now we're running for the Hills, abbandoning Sian... this is the beginning of the end, as we know
However we're holding the rest of the perimeter. Kweiyang , Tsuyun and Chikkiang are still in our hands...

Sian is a tough one. Not sure how much you have or what he is bringing, but with forts that city can hold for a while, even in the clear, and really make it tough on the troops trying to take it. Still, if you abandon that and get a good terrain block up north, the real prize is Lanchow, so you can still keep him from that.

In clear terrain it's almost impossible to hold, even with forts. Sian has a SL of 130K and he surely has more than that committed in the northern Chinese theatre. Easy to flank from the north, I consider it a very bad place to defend. My armies will be shattered and I won't have any supplies to make them recover. No, I consider a mistake to defend Sian without having secured it's approaches and, once the good terrain is lost, these approaches are lost too.
Even the rough terrain is not holdable against a committed Japanese army (with artillery and SL on). His Helens will kill 1000 men every day and his heavy artillery pieces will do the same. While the mountains or the WR terrain offer a much more suitable defensive position. And you're right: Lanchow is the real prize!

Sept 28- Oct 10, 1942

The pursuit of my units continue North of Sian. We're under heavy pressure but i think we may be able to get safely to the new positions before the enemy's 100k men army invest us in the plains.

In Burma the 15th Jap Army is advancing towards Mitikina. We managed to score a good day in the air, ambushing 100 japanese Helens over Mitikyna and Killing 86 planes between Tojos and Helens, losing only 10 frames of mine. At the same time 100 B-17s bombed Katha. A good day.

At Horn Island, after 3 months of heavy bombings (5 BB + 5 CAs committed daily along with 200 bombers) the enemy landed the 56th Division, reinforced by 2 indipendent regiment... we achieved a great 1-99 and basically destroyed his first wave (2000 casualities among the attackers).

Mini-KB and a strong CA TF is operating near Tabiutea. No signs of the enemy's CVs...

Oct 11-15, 1942

Horn Island, after a good resistance against the first landing (where we killed 2000 japs) finally fell against overwhelming forces. 5 BBs + 5 CAs bombed the base again, followed up by 100 Betties. Supplies were non existant and there was no way to help the brave Australian garrison. 19,000 allied soldiers has fallen prisoners... oh well

But in China we finally stopped the enemy advance north of Sian. The pursuit is over with an astonishing success 46 miles east of Tienshui.

That's a lot of squads disabled and destroyed and this should buy me the time to move back the overstacked units and to consolidate our positions on the mountain terrain. In the meanwhile we're holding in the South, despite the supplies situation gets worse every day.

Synch bug keeps on striking...and drives me crazy [:@]

In China we still hold, even if the casualities are HUGE.
In Burma we begun a new offensive (but lost Mytikina and Wazrup).
In CENPAC we had a huge BB battle, were I lost South Dakota, 1 Brookling Class CL (with one more in sinking conditions),2 CAs and 4 DDs, while he lost Musashi and 2 CAs... with 2 more damaged. Not bad.

Hopefully i'll have more time in the nearby future. However the game proceeds fast. We've reached Nov 22, 1942

Don't know, and we have everything patched and updated...[&:]

I get the sync bug a lot too, once a week or so - we're on the last "official" release. My guess is that everyone gets it but they just don't notice. I only notice because my opponent sends the combat.txt when I'm at work then I watch the replay when I get home. Most of the time it is very minor things but there are still differences, and then occasionally you get some biggies.

Here's the situation in China at the end of November 1942.

The japs are really hitting hard with their artillery and every single Chinese base is bombed daily by 200/250 bombers...
