By all accounts the only things that have changed are fewer USAF personal, fewer aircraft, run down infrastructure and fewer NATO exercises and rotations.

57th Ftr Sqn was deactivated in 95 and the base was shut down in 2006 but plans for reactivating started in 2015 and there are a few USAF people there now I believe, but no assigned aircraft.

This bid for renovation is an indicator of changes to come I think. https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/poli ... _keflavik/

Your book kept me up until 2 am last night. As I said, I like to read very slow and take in all of the majesty of your words, but I have arrived at the point where the fighting has begun. I can't stop reading. I want to thoroughly enjoy, but I can't just stop because the book is too good. I find myself envisioning the battles that you are describing through the use of CMANO. Having played your scenarios pertaining to this topic, it brings the words to life.

Bart, I'm not getting much sleep and it's all your fault! <lol>

Doug, glad you're enjoying the book! That's exactly the reaction we were shooting for when writing. Be sure to leave us a good review on Amazon/Goodreads when you finish to help us get the word out.

Hay guys, Joel is traveling again but busy as always - in addition to popping home to help his wife deliver a child he's done an interview with a newspaper in Colorado Springs.

You can read all about it here

We plan for the audiobook by Christmas this year. For book 2 there will likely (based on sales of book 1 audiobook) be an audiobook as well but probably about 6 months after the release of the print & ebooks.

Thanks for you support.

Since you're doing a big revamp of the USSR section, I feel obligated to make one small quibble. I'd go with the "Heavy OPFOR" manuals over the older FM 100-2s as a go-to reference because:

1: The FM 100-2's, though not the worst, are still older and based off less complete data than the post-glasnost, juuuuust after the fall of the USSR Heavy OPFOR.
2: The Heavy OPFOR is meant to be a stand-in for a more idealized, full-strength USSR/Russia heading into the early/mid 1990s. What is the USSR in Northern Fury? [:'(]

Thanks for the tip - quite familiar with Heavy OPFOR but you're correct that I have been basing most of my stuff on FM-100-2.

For most of the higher level stuff I've been going here: http://www.ww2.dk/new/newindex.htm and cross referencing with http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/g ... 541351.pdf and https://coldwargamer.blogspot.com/2013/ ... ainst.html

To be honest, I haven't paid that much attention to anything lower than Div except where it gets into specialties like Airborne and Naval Infantry. But now with CMO on the horizon I had better rethink that a bit...

Heavy OPFOR might just be the trick... thanks.

I'm glad I was able to make it, and meet the person behind all those great scenarios. They've provided literally hundreds of hours of challenging entertainment, and then a fine book too. Thanks again!
