Bases LOST today: Umnak and Atka Is.
Allied troops continued to unload at Milne Bay, Umnak, and Atka Is.
Nells bombed Chungking at night inflicting exactly zero damage. Wellingtons bombed Port Blair at night with the same result.
Four US battleships bombarded Atka Is.
A small supply/fuel TF reached Port Blair unmolested.

Banshees from Port Moresby again scored hits on our evacuation TF at Buna, but didn't sink anything new. The 2 transports burning from yesterday sank, however.

Again, a fragment of this unit is elsewhere, so no PPs are required to rebuild it. The Allies approach to these 2 bases shows his extreme caution. Either or both could have been taken a week to 10 days ago, but I guess he didn't know that. Adak and Amchitka are next; maybe he'll throw caution to the wind and get cocky. Kaga is now lurking west of the Aleutian chain. Undetected.
A6M5 Zero research is at 97%. Research at Hamamatsu and Maebashi was changed to A6M5b, then A6M5c, each maintaining 30(0) status. Had these not been changed now, both would have gone into production tomorrow and a switch back to research would not have been possible. I know this because on Jun 3 five A6M5 planes were produced AND the A6M5 sites are NOT shown in blue.
CVs Shokaku and Zuikaku began their 20-day Jun upgrades at Singapore, with their A6M2 Zero fighters offloaded for upgrade to A6M5.
