Turn 5 Beginning of Turn

Of course rain on Soviet side of things but nice on Axis side of things. I do have to protest this out loud

Darn the Finns move fast!

Also of note there are many battles this turn. I also get to the point of using the old Soviet Aircraft or using the new aircraft with experienced pilots. I have my final thoughts on what I will do in the future in my next Soviet game and believe you will decide after I show my combat.

Turn 5 Beginning of Turn

North

This was the defense I left facing the Germans on the Narva River at the end of turn 4. I opted for the one weak hex at the top with the 11 defense. I backed up the 11 defense with my routed unit and HQ to the NW in the off chance the 11 point hex gets attacked that a retreat will go NE.

This is the German attacks in the region which I will get into for the sake of the air battles. But basically the Germans cleared out the Soviets the west side of the Narva. The Narva won't hold the Germans and will plan the defense accordingly for this turn. The next few snapshots will go over the Air battles within these 4 attacks.

The First is an AS at High Altitude by Migs @ 28,000

The 3rd is an AS at low Altitude by Laggs @ 8,000

The final AD is an GS with 4 fighter groups and 1 bomber group.

Looks like the panzers on the Narva have a lot of driving ahead of them. [;)]

1st battle North

This battle rips the Soviets a new one in air combat. Even well rested Soviets over 59+ experience get eaten like candy. Of course I expected the result for the the Naval brigade having to retreat the way it had to.

****The loss over the 42 aircraft I had I assume comes from either 1. the AS contributed to this or 2. a bug. I am sure Loki could talk more to this or anyone else that knows the inner workings.****

Thank you for the Pearl. I implore everyone to go and read these valuable gems on post 9 of this AAR. Well worth it.

Ya on the panzers driving. This area goes hand in hand with what is happening around Pskov. One supports the other.

2nd battle West

This battle suffers the same fate as the first battle. Well rested Soviets over 59+ experience get eaten like candy. I will assume this area is important for attacking since we have Model in the house. Need to plan accordingly

3rd Battle East

The battle sees the Soviets get a few nice A2A kills. Even well rested Soviets over 59+ experience get eaten like candy but they are taking out some Germans. The Naval brigade shatters and to be expected at this early stage of the game.

So far what I have seen Dodo89 is handling the German Air Force very well. Awesome job [:)]

4th battle South

This battle is another the Soviets get murdered in. The only thing that is missing are the blindfolds. Thus even well rested Soviets over 59+ experience I feel is not the answer up front to confront the Germans. I feel you are going to have to use some of the older models and medi-core pilots to start at a minimum thinning out the Germans if going Head to head in air combat. That is what I came to the other day & this turn re-affirms my conviction so far. Which could change of course if someone shows me a better way. Because lords knows I could have done things incorrect for the Soviet side.
