Turn 6
End of turn in South with "MANY" units surrounded in yellow and in RED units that are ZOC locked and not going far. As I said CAV units are super easy to corral (normally and I think one got away and don't remember now). I double ring this in this time to alleviate any unforseen opening for next turn.

Turn 6
Conclusion.
I am right where I want to be. Soviets can't go anywhere but stay close in the North since it is all about delay. For me it is picking off units and surrounding them in the North. With supply being excellent at Leningrad and only going to get better this is what the Germans should do. The constant strain on Soviet Manpower over the whole map makes staying close to the Germans very dangerous but in the North the Soviets don't have that luxury.
My opponent loves to make the Germans fight for every hex on the map. That is RIGHT up my alley. The Soviets will pay in POW's. As seen in the Norths final picture.

How long should one have to take turns before it is considered a forfeited game? Post in the AAR please.
I think a lot of the old Wite1 aars had a 30 day forfeit HR.
It's about communication though really isn't it. Obviously sometimes RL gets in the way of sending turns back quickly. But just leaving someone hanging without explanation is not ideal.

This is a very interesting strategy, particularly in the North. I can't help but ask myself, what would I do as Soviets if I saw this?
First, a decent Soviet player IMO needs to track all Panzer formations. By T4, it should be obvious without even having to run recon that all of PzGp 3 and 4 are moving to Leningrad. So that's the focus up there.
I probably would've prioritized Leningrad T2 and 3 for units, so there would be some Soviets up there. But ultimately, whatever the Germans commit 2 Panzer Groups 2 in 1941, they are going to get IMO. So I would come to the conclusion on T4 that Leningrad is doomed, and it's only a matter of when and how many guys I lose when it goes down.
So, given that, here is what I would do:
1. Focus most of the strength on the "Volkhov Corridor", the swamps east of Leningrad; I would only screen the heavy woods south of the city. I would be fine getting pushed back in the city, but I prefer not to get everyone cut-off, because there won't be a long siege
2. Ultimately, I want to defend the line of the Volkhov, and East of there
Even if you take Leningrad T8 or T9, which is great, as Germans, then what?
You have 2 not great choices at that point:
1. You can push over the Volkhov, east, down the double-tracked Leningrad-Moscow main line. That's a long way though through bad terrain, and if I am the Soviets I will be defending that area. OR
2. Shift all those panzers south to Smolensk; but that's a turn or two of driving, which will exhaust those formations and probably trash some tanks....this is also not ideal
Leningrad is kind of a strategic dead-end; once taken by the Germans, there's nothing else nearby of any strategic value. That's the problem, IMO, with committing so much to Leningrad, as valuable as it is to take it.
The worst thing your opponent can do is see all those Panzers, and then double-down on defending the woods south of the City. That seems to be what he's doing, but without looking ahead those guys are all going to become POWs if he persists in that strategy. It's all about getting to Lake Ladoga and Ostinovets.
That's my two kopeks, would love to hear what others think

As far as the SOUTH, looking at that, I don't have too many good ideas on what I would be doing, but I would definitely not be trying to slug it out with German infantry on clear terrain.
I think in the South, against a Panzer ball like that, the best strategy is to retreat enough that the German infantry cannot launch deliberate attacks against your line of resistance. That means running pretty far, but you can't outrun the Panzers. What you can do is force the Panzers to do all the attacking, which will limit their ability to exploit and surround units. That's all I got really. It's hard for the Germans to get meaningful supplies past Rostov, so that to me is where the Soviets probably make a stand against the infantry, and not much before
Other than that, he should be building forts at the Kerch strait

There are Three (3) Panzer Armies going towards Leningrad.
If the Soviets don't vacate the Leningrad area after Leningrad is taken I would stay and continue to take more Soviet units and/or cause losses. For me as Germany causing losses or surrounding units is always #1 priority over other parts of the Map to take.
In the coming turns you will see what I did, stay tuned.

I agree. Germans vs Soviets in open terrain is not a pretty sight.
