4 Sept:
My troops have entered Chengtu. My recon shows 11 units there with only 11,000 troops?? If this is true then I should take this city fairly quickly and the war is probably over. If I fail to take the city I may well be surrounded by a 10-11 division force which I have bypassed and cannot seem to engage. (trying but my units stick at 59 miles.)
Chungking is still surrounded. Kwieyang was cut off by half a brigade of mine but this force has now been driven back and it appears that Chinese troops from that area are moving to the Chungking area.

The war is over.
With the fall of Chengtu we have agreed that there is no longer any chance of prolonged resistance. I have both passwords now so I may continue in solitare mode just to see how long Chungking can hold but I'm not sure its worth the time.
Supply was a critical issue and it is of note that the allied replacement pool has over 5000 unused Chinese squads. There probably just was not supply to accept them. Many of his units have no supply. All of his cities are below requirements and Kwieyang is practically at zero supply. I also made note of the extreme low morale of the Chinese forces. Many divisions are in the low teens and a few units were under 10 morale.
The logical continuation is for the Chinese force near Kumming to continue toward Chungking to try and relieve that city. There is some possibility of success as my forces surrounding the city are not that strong. But with low morale, low supply, and very little artillery the relieving force is not very strong either.

Grotius:
Honestly I think the theater will be OK once 1.5 is out. Its really not so easy to conquer China if the defender knows what he is doing.
At the beginning of the game WITP_Dude was not fully aware of the value of the shock attack but once he found out things were much more difficult. Even then I think my final victory was caused by Dude getting a little overaggressive and moving 15 or so of his best corps to try and surround my troops in Chunking. This left a gap in his defence that I was able to pour though and surround his forces. Had he remained in a more passive position I think he would have had a better chance of surviving.
I would like to try a China only game as China but I have recieved no takers in several months.

I already have a 1.4 China game going. Don't want another unless there is a wager involved.

I would be interested in what you have to say about the supply situation in China as the game went on. How much did you have when you retreated to the Kwieyang/Chungking line? How fast did it drop? What events affected your supply situation the most etc.

There isn't much to say. Supply was never too abundant. It was ok for a while and Chungking could always build fortifications. There was usually enough supply for defense but attacking was out of the question. Ask Feinder about that. It is difficult to stop the Japanese from destroying all the resource points if they want to go that route. That leaves only the free supply in Chengtu and Chungking plus airlift.
