Just gotten home from a Hannover 96 vs Sunderland AFC. Hannover lost 0:1 . It seems that Hannover will have a long hard struggle in the next season. 14 days away. The DFB Pokal starts next week, so crossing my fingers that they might win against a lower divisional team and get through to the next round.

Sunderland's fans were quite loud with their singing, might have been a few hundred but it did feel like thousands. They deserved the win, although Hannover did get a penalty in the 90th min. But shot badly and their keeper, who must be something like 2,5m saved it with ease.

Yes, Sunderland fans are a noisy bunch! Very loyal to their team through thick and (largely) thin.

Good luck in the cup!

Well the footie season has come round pretty quick - maybe starting a bit earlier because of the Euros?

Anyway, the new season brings the usual hopes and (mostly) fears for the coming nine months.

Let's have some predictions:

Champions: Chelsea or Arsenal - I'll plump for Chelsea
Relegated: Watford, Bournemouth and the third one is tough. Norwich to survive and Sunderland or Newcastle for the drop. I'll go with the Black Cats.
FA Cup: Arsenal
League Cup: Southampton

First manager sacked: Steve McLaren

Champions : Arsenal. I really think this might be their year. I think Chelsea, City and UTD will follow in that order.
Relegation : Watford, Swansea, Norwich
FA Cup : City
Leage Cup : Let us face it, this one is always wide open as it is not really cared for, but I'll say Palace just to say something.
First manager sacked : sadly, Brendan Rodgers [:(]

Wow - football must be taking off in the US. The Americans have copied European mindless violence around matches.......

The worst part of the season has arrived. I am feeling especially anxious this year.

The Swedish transfer window is now closed. That means we are not allowed to buy new players but we can still sell players to countries with their window still open.

And my team can not afford to say no to any serious offer. So this is the time of year that that can spoil the remainder of the season.

Very odd, I agree. Although it is now 3:4 for Dortmund now.

What were the odds that Odd would lead so early. What are the odds that Odd will qualify for the next round?

Good to see we are clearing out some of the dead wood and players who are no longer good enough [:)]

So far have dispensed with:

Capoue
Paulinho
Kaboul

Still more to go I hope - Soldado, Fazio, Stambouli, Adebayor.....

What do Liverpool fans think of the Sterling transfer saga?
warspite1

To paraphrase a famous naval aviator "scratch one Stambouli" [:D]
warspite1

...and now Vlad Chiriches is off and Adebayor likely (although I will believe that only when it's done).

Good stuff - keep clearing out the dead wood please [:)]
warspite1

Exit Soldado and Fazio - hussah!

So Leicester, and Ranieri, has parked the bus and got good results by doing so. Makes for an interesting season opening. I wonder if more teams will follow.

Well Transfer Deadline Day was an anti-climax....

I have no idea what is going on at Tottenham. Apparently strikers are an optional extra [8|]

I thought that Adebayor had some quality.
