It was a good run. I'm not going to bother to look up exactly how long the battle lasted, but it did seem to tie up a lot of Japanese forces and KB for quite a while. Loss ratio at sea did look pretty good as well, especially in the later parts of the battle, so overall you can be quite proud of yourself I think. Now it's time to make the next Alamo.

This is the situation in NW Oz, a fulkl size infantry unti as well as tanks are closing in on Katherine. They've got to be knackered and pushed for supply across all the desert, right? Right?

WRT Katherine-the rules for transcontinental trail supply differ patch by patch. Under which patch did you guys start this up? If prior to patch III, you're hosed-they can walk to the middle of Australia on trail and still have plenty of supply. Northern Australia is borked prior to the most recent patch(es).

So how many men/units did you lose in Noumea.

Nah- dem get plenty good bush tucker out there mate. Old man emu, kangaroo- and once the LYB get to Katherine, long pig.

At least now 1) you guys have more force concentrated in one place and 2) the LYB that did the felling will not be in any shape to try again for a bit and 3) this iirc this was not supposed to be the mother of all battles. This was supposed to stop the LYB advance and tie up his forces (which it did admirably).

Right. This is an extremely silly move designed to get you to commit forces away from Noumea.

The old joke for the desert tank crews was asking for "permission to brew up"... of course, the term "brew up" was also slang for "catching on fire" (esp. after taking a direct hit)...

Let's hope the "brewing up" is the tea kind in this case! [;)]

EDIT: The terrain around Katherine looks rather like desert, except for the area around a rather impressive river and gorge
