Thanks for the comments. Yeah. Tamsag will be seized back next turn and that is not his "main" thrust towards north.

His main forces are actually moving up past Linshi and some elements are closing in Ulan Udde region.

I have infantry waiting for him and his supplies lines are very long so really cannot see this being anything other than annoyance.

That was the first assault on Yenki.. so safe bet would be more than level 7! [:D]

Actually ordered another immediate assault there next turn since the troops are ready for it. Also I need to bring those AV numbers down.. this battle here will be battle of an attrition and I think we can handle it out somewhat easily.

I know he can send in extra reinforcements from either Kirin or Harbin.. well Harbin unlikely since he needs his units there.

I really need to get better intel about Mukden and Changchun... not detailed enough but sizeable garrisons reported.

Despite soviet airforce flying paper aircraft I haven't been bombed extensively here. He is busy battling it out near Luzon mainly.

As for AAA units.. yeah, have more than enough few miles out of Yenki and some of those units moving into the city itself.

The bigger aircampaign againts the home islands is scheduled to start in december 1945 or january 1946.

Japanese E boats keep hammering the US submarines patrolling the deep waters around the home islands.

I really cannot describe how absurd the ASW actually is in the game... it is beyond an joke though.

The japanese airforce has made few runs againts our shipping conducting these operations but have not hit any major vessels in the area.

The intel indicates that Japanese are moving fresh troops towards Yenki. Currently 69 enemy units present.

I have ordered bombardment assault next turn to evaluate the situation there.

Japanese have also launched major airstrikes towards Vladivostok port/airfield. There has been hundreds of bombers in action and japanese are slowly gaining upper hand here.

We will make this costly as possible though...

...as you can see Dave is flying in some extra infantry units and to be honest I don't mind that at all.

The first waves of B29's have been hitting japanese industrial targets. These bomber squadrons are flying out of Marianas.

There has been additional A-bomb dropped into Tokyo. The capital is reportedly severely damaged.

Philippines

This theatre of operations has been losing some steam lately.

The allied side have now secured Mindanado and there are no significant Japanese forces reported outside of Luzon.

At the moment things remain calm...

China

ZzzzzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzzzz... simply not enough supplies to do large scale offensives. Dave seems to have moved a lot of troops into Manchuko area.

Burma

The allied forces have made significant progress here.

Thailand is now 90% liberated with british troops holding Saigon.

The advance towards Singapore is temporarily halted Nakhon Si Thammarat. This will be temporary and additional troops are enroute towards the area.

Overall we are making good progress here.

CenPac / South Pacific

The main Marianas islands are now seized and fully operational. (Saipan, Tinian and Guam)

Ground battles rage at Rota and there few operational enemy bases further up the island chain.

The B29's have already made their first visits from this area.

Russia

The additional Japanese reinforcements from Chinese theatre have halted the Russian bear.

Actually both sides have lost some steam and only minor ground battles are raging in deserts.

We shall see whether we are able to make progress here. It wohn't definately be easy.

Pacific (April 11th 1946)

Allied forces have dropped A-bombs into Tokyo and Osaka.

The B29 squadrons are at full swing but are taking casualties due not having fighter escorts.

Overall the Japanese homeland are taking a beating...

I have tried to push through the japanese perimeter at Yenki and Harbin.

Unfortunately the japanese have held their line and repulsed the efforts.

Dave made an good move by moving divisions in northern russia and thus hampering the supply routes.

Also japanese airforce have been too much for the russians to handle...


Philippines

There has not been much action here. Occasional large scale air to air combats at Leyte Gulf and over Manila.

I have 4-5 solid airfields in this region so life for the japanese is not easy.

The last operation in this theatre is on it's way and it is called "battleaxe".

Lets see how that one goes...


China


I really haven't been able to launch the major offensive here as I wanted.

Simply because there are not enough supplies to sustain such a big push forward and japanese forces are well fortified.

On the same note I doubt Dave have the supplies or forces to do anything major in last weeks either.


Burma


Allied forces continue their push into Malaya peninsula and have now reached and liberated Singora.

The goal to liberate Singapore is not going to happen with the closing towards an end.

Japanese repulsed allied forces out of Cam Rahn Bay by unloading additional forces there.

Bulk of Thailand is on allied hads though...


CenPac / South Pacific / Aleutians


Not much happening in either of these places.

Mostly supply convoys moving supplies and fuel forward to feed the allied armies in the frontlines.

Just enough time to land at Luzon and establish frontline there. Hopefully Dave will move his naval assets forward so we shall see one big "BOOM" before the end.

Allied 4E bombers have shutdown the airfield at Manila.

The last big naval invasion has occured when troops landed at Legaspi.

We now have firm foothold in Luzon and are moving ahead towards Naga.

Oddly the japanese did not commit naval assets here to defend the main island.

There just some motorboats and couple of destroyers.

No sign of KB either.. it has not been seen in months. Whether they are out fuel of just hiding is anyones guess...

The end date has arrived in this PBEM!

Nothing really to report from the final days. We did push with city bombings, seized Naga and were looking for one final CV duel.

Unfortunately I went towards Iwo Jima / Okinawa when the carriers were near Brunei.

It actually feels good to have completed two PBEM games with this AE monster.

First off thanks again to Dave. This is not the first encounter we did finish off. It takes a lot from your PBEM partner to stick around until the end!

Also it does require somewhat similar personalities to talk some things through when the issues arise. As said hats off to him an true gentleman!

I will be open for an rematch if Dave wants to go around the 2nd time...

Really big thanks to all the readers. My apologies that I did not have the time to update the AAR as much as I would in later years but I did receive a lot of soid tips.

How do I feel the game went...

The submarine warfare is way off. I don't know whether they have made adjustments in later patches to it but really they should since ASW is brutal.

China is an mess.. truly is but thankfully did not lose the whole country despite starting on early.

You always need luck with dice rolls and I feel a bit unlucky with CV encounters we had in this game.

I did manage to push further into Malaya / Thailand than in our previous encounters. Also managed to gain solid foothold in CenPac.

I could have bombed the oilfields in this at DEI but chose not to do so. That was 50/50 call an might to otherwise in rematch.

I did not land at japanese home islands. (Last time around I did manage to capture couple of cities).. so that did not deliver.

The bombing campaign was taking its toll and doubt japanese economy could have hold out much longer before completely crumbling into dust.

I did not play as well with the Soviets as I would have liked to. Lessons learned here... but I did put up an fight as did my opponent.

Overall though I would grade my game vs Dave with 8- number.

Most importantly though this was an journey with it's up and downs. I do not play for points.. never have and never will.. the journey is the most important factor.

I do hope the people following the encouter enjoyed the ride... now I will post few screenshots from last day of the war.
