Hmmm, let me see. When was the last time you logged in or read the forums? 2010 according to the old niceguy profile?
That sounds about right...but wow time flies.
Mrs Dixie is just about keeping me in line these days, mostly because she needs me around to play cars with Josh. I managed to get a posting back home to keep Mrs D happy as she was fed up being 150 miles from her family, I was happy because I got onto BBMF so now I'm working with WW2 aeroplanes for a living until the ultimate promotion to Mr [:D]
Are you out of nappies yet? [:)]

Greetings all! It's a drive by posting from the evil genius formerly known as Niceguy [;)]
Had to stop in. I thought I'd take my new 'puter for a spin by loading AE. Damn Windows 8, can't get the screen settings right though.
Nice to see a lot of the old gang here though...Mike, Dixie, Sprior, Apollo 11, T.
Howdy stranger. How's life treating you?
Not bad Dixie. Still lost somewhere in Iowa and working way too D@#! much, but no real complaints.
How are you doing these days? The misses still keeping you in line?
Are you in the eastern half or the western? I only ask as I live for the next month and a half on the Iowa/Nebraska border. [:)]

Took my son and daughter to the movies this evening, while my wife worked one of her two weekend shifts. Saw "Epic", an animated flick. Beautiful fantasy world, lovingly crafted and rendered. Strongly recommend for those of you looking for a movie your kids and you would enjoy. [8D]
ETA: A good dance number in the closing credits. Daughter asked, "Daddy, can I go and dance?" [the theater had a small open area in front of the seats by the screen]. "Sure", says I. She gets up there twirling and kicking and swirling with delight and joy. I try to hide my tears from the attendants coming into clean up the auditorium. She was so beautiful...

All hail the Thread!! [&o]
Any Thread brethren have any ideas about the post I made in the Tech Support forum? I'm having trouble with my WiTP screen. It is cutting off at the bottom of my TV screen. [:@] After tinkering, I have almost gotten it to a playable condition but not quite.

You know one of the things I have always appreciated about my Thread brethren is that we are of the same generation (many of us anyway). I was thinking back recently on how much the Internet has improved since the early days.
1)when you search for stuff on the net now you can usually find information on what you're looking for in a matter of seconds. There is so much content out there now almost always somebody has an answer to any question you have.
2)it is so much faster than that 128k modem we used to have and of course the busy signal I would get with AOL. [:D]

Never had to endure an old-school modem. Used to use Ze Internet at school and at libraries until I got a cable modem for my home.

Yup. Had a 64k modem for several years in the late 80s/early 90s in college. It would take hours (and often drop) to D/L a 1MB file. We learned how to surf the internet on Mosaic, later Netscape. This was before MS Explorer ground their competitors into paste.

My very first web browser was Netscape Navigator, with Webcrawler as a search engine... Wasn't a whole lot to search for in those dark days of the early 90s...

Just watched an old film called By Dawn's Early Light... Forgotten how depressing it was...

Powers Boothe, right?
I still get goosebumps with the SAC scramble with the voice-over of the Premier's voice. Apologizing for nuking CONUS and acknowledging the willingness to take one back to prevent an all-out exchange. That's some cold calculus there.

Powers Boothe, yah... It's quite the grim spectacle.

Yep Netscape was the first browser I used consistently. I was on the net before they came out, but as you say, there wasn't a whole lot to do there but order books from amazon.

Don't forget a half-blinded Rebecca DeMornae. "You ever get high, Joel?" [:D]
