Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Terminus
My very first web browser was Netscape Navigator, with Webcrawler as a search engine... Wasn't a whole lot to search for in those dark days of the early 90s...
Ahhh... I used even older stuff... anyone remembers the "Mosaic"?
I used it on my Intel DX266 in early 1990's and at the university on Sun Sparc workstations! [:)]

Yup. Had a 64k modem for several years in the late 80s/early 90s in college. It would take hours (and often drop) to D/L a 1MB file. We learned how to surf the internet on Mosaic, later Netscape. This was before MS Explorer ground their competitors into paste.
I used to use Lynx
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynx_(web_browser)
(It was actually ALynx running on my Amiga. Downloaded* a free TCP/IP stack and bingo - internet machine!!)
Amazing, it's still around!! [:)]
Edit: * Downloaded off a BBS in case you were wondering how that was possible or was it a Fish disk (floppy disk public domain collection compiled by Fred Fish) - it was a long time ago. My first ISP gave me a totally unrestricted Unix account on his server and I had to set everything up myself. They were great days for learning the ropes!!
P.S All done on a 28K Modem. At least I didn't have a 2400baud modem like some of my friends (which by the way is still the only phone data service speed guaranteed by Telstra - just ask them!!)

Greetings all! It's a drive by posting from the evil genius formerly known as Niceguy [;)]
Had to stop in. I thought I'd take my new 'puter for a spin by loading AE. Damn Windows 8, can't get the screen settings right though.
Nice to see a lot of the old gang here though...Mike, Dixie, Sprior, Apollo 11, T.
Hey Chris! Good to see you around. [:)]
Forgot your old password, didn't 'ya? [:'(]

It's so weird...there's this thing in the sky...and it hurts my eyes when I look at it. Also, it makes my skin feel...I dunno...what's the opposite of bitterly cold? [&:]
You seeing it up there NoDak?
I immediately reteated to the basement. Run away, run away. Panic and dispair.[:D]

Took my son and daughter to the movies this evening, while my wife worked one of her two weekend shifts. Saw "Epic", an animated flick. Beautiful fantasy world, lovingly crafted and rendered. Strongly recommend for those of you looking for a movie your kids and you would enjoy. [8D]
ETA: A good dance number in the closing credits. Daughter asked, "Daddy, can I go and dance?" [the theater had a small open area in front of the seats by the screen]. "Sure", says I. She gets up there twirling and kicking and swirling with delight and joy. I try to hide my tears from the attendants coming into clean up the auditorium. She was so beautiful...

My "first time" was on my mother's IBM PC XT in 1986, on a 300/600 baud modem. No "internet" to speak of, but connected to local dialup BBS "servers." [:D]

Just watched an old film called By Dawn's Early Light... Forgotten how depressing it was...
Looked it up and now I remember it, but never watched it.

Thank the Thread for work today, where I at least get to sit down at my desk for 8 hours! [&o][&o][&o]
Exhausted from moving stuff out of our house and detail cleaning, as we get ready to list it for sale. Just moving locally, to somewhere with a little more room, a little less stairs, and hopefully, a pool. [8D]

CB,
All clear sounded yesterday. Back to cool, overcast and rain. And fog this morning for added comfort.[8|]

Good times at work today [:)] A good chunk of BBMF are heading to the Netherlands on Wednesday so there's less chance of me being booted off my flight on Saturday. My name's up on the official crew board in ops [:)] I'm also (currently) on the list to go to RIAT at RAF Fairford next month [8D][&o]

Tomorrow's agenda: see kids off in the morning to their day camp, aerobic and weights workout, do some proficiency shooting with my SS P226, cook some ribs and (maybe) catch some rays. [8D]
You suckas don't have to go to work, do you? [:'(]
ETA: Oh crap! Forgot about flipping an AE turn! Sorry Steve! That's certainly on the agenda..[;)]
