Dixie I saw a Tri-Star from 101 squadron on the T-line here at Offutt this morning.[:)]

It'll be 216 old boy, I should know (at least) one of the guys on it. Rumour has it that it'll be there for some time, apparently they're having problems with one that's out there. The size of the fleet means that's probably the only one there.

Martin-thanks for the pictures.  Sorry you got airsick, but sounds like a marvelous flight.  [8D]

I assume you didn't tell the upper class pilots (about your airsickness), lest they lord it over you in perpetuity?

There'll be more pics and some videos to follow. As soon as I resize the pics and get the vids uploaded to Youtube.

I think they expect everyone to get airsick to some degree on the first flight. In my case it was a combination of exhaust fumes and the fact that the tail shakes around like a shaky thing [:D] It vibrates a lot on the ground with the propwash so up in the air it's even worse.

You bent your propeller blades.

It's weird how that happens. I would've though that the camera on my phone would have bent them the other way as the Merlin rotates clockwise as viewed from the rear and the tip is moving faster than the root.

Here's the first (i.e. shortest and quickest to upload). A low level flypast of RAF Benson, iirc from the comms between air traffic and the crew it was around 100-150 feet.

...it's called "rolling shutter effect"...i'm assuming you used a digital camera for these? they use a scanning technique rather than a snap shot...also looks like the port prop is rotating slightly faster than the starboard prop, but that could be because the scan is horizontal versus vertical...

...very cool pics! i'm jealous! [&o]

That would explain it. Sounds like a wiggly line phenomenon so outside my understanding [:D]

Engine start, you can see the camera shaking about a bit and hear some rattles already [:D] A piston engine aircraft shakes so much more than a gas turbine powered one.

A lot of the pictures are very similar really. The scenery changes but that's it really. We didn't move around the aircraft much, as both of us 'passengers' were first timers so we wanted to enjoy it. It's also bloody dark inside a Lancaster with the hatches all shut, even in the daylight.

I can do on request pics if there's something people particularly want to see. I'm aiming to grab the bomb aimers position for my next flight. And video the takeoff and landing from there.

Wife and I celebrated our youngest one year birthday earlier this week, our 5-yr anny today, and our oldest's third birthday tomorrow.

I took my wife out for an awesome lunch...we had left over pizza and cottage cheese.
